RIVER MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT Hands of Mercy s mission is to strengthen the Body of Christ by disciplining families and individuals to love others in tangible way. This is accomplished through loft houses. A loft house is prefabricated in church parking lots in the US and assembled in Mexico in a day. Though not luxurious by any definition, a loft house gives some basic protection and shelter from the elements. A loft house is a 12 foot by 12 foot structure with 4 windows, a lockable door and a second story attic loft for sleeping that is reached by an interior stair system. The River is hosting two loft houses in January and assembling the house in Mexico in February. Compassion for people, Passion for Christ is HOM s motto. If you interested in participating, join us for an experience you will never forget? We look forward to hearing from you. Contact Jim or Chris Nydam if you would like to participate in the upcoming Hands of Mercy Trip or would like more information. PASTOR SCOTT S SERMON NOTES {RE} creation Rejoice John 2:1-12 My love/hate relationship with weddings. A. Without Christ s intervention, the joy of the celebration is about to end. A word about weddings of the day. At risk here is the of the bridegroom s family and the opportunity for with others for something good (a marriage). There are also the new to think about. Without Christ revealing his true this doesn t end well. There is also the question of Christ s first to his mother. Why didn t he to? B. Without Christ s presence, the joy of our celebrations can quickly end. For us, this passage is partially about the, but also about Christ s. Do we welcome Christ into our and into the fun parts of our lives. What do you and I most look to? What are our fun things in life? Do we Christ into them? Can we? If Christ shows up, how does he those times? Often, we can our fun from Christ s because we just wanna have a good time. What happens in Vegas C. Because of Christ s presence, the celebration gets even better. A word about the wine. Because Christ makes his known, the continues. And even more, it s better and greater than it was before. Christ s brings things! Christ waits to act because he wants to do the of his father. And the father says! This also something important. D. When we welcome Christ s presence, out celebrations are even better. Perhaps we need to ask questions of ourselves in how we have fun.
As we are willing to Christ into our fun and, what gets changed will result in something, because it looks more and more like. We also foreshadow what is to come when we live out what we will know for. Finally, when Christ is present He can actually people (vs. 11). July 4 celebrations past.
