Your welcome to bring others from your staff if you would like. Virtus Training Virtus Training for DRE/CREs and catechists will be held for those interested before the workshop with David Well on August 27 from 3:30-4:45 PM and on August 28th from 1:30-3:00PM at St. Mary Cathedral. The information will cover what needs to be done to be in compliance for the archdiocese and how to access the program. Karen Guglielmoni will be the presenter. The Santa Clara Faith Formation Conference is Nov. 29-Dec. 1. This is the gathering of all of our catechists along with many from other dioceses to enrich your faith. Parish Directors please make this a must for your catechists and volunteers. Buses will be available again this year on Saturday. Certification credit will also be given. We ask that you not schedule any classes or events in order to free your catechists to attend. 1 Mary, Star of Evangelization Help us Be Missionary Disciples Natalie Larrarga who has been coordinator of our Youth Confirmation Retreats will be increasing her hours in order to expand the role to Coordinator of Confirmation. In this capacity she will not only continue what she has been doing but will work with parishes with the NCEA-ACRE assessment for the first year candidates. This will give her time to help parishes build their curriculum around the needs of the candidates for confirmation. She will provide training for teams and be a resource in the area of confirmation throughout the archdiocese. We are exciting to have her join us half time. NCEA-ACRE Assessments Just a reminder that those coordinating Youth Confirmation Program are asked to do the NCEA-ACRE Assessment with the first year candidates. This is for you to build your curriculum for the coming two years. Areas that students need work on should be included in your program so they are prepared for the sacrament. 2 NCEA ACRE is designed to assist in the evaluation of catechetical / religious education programs in Catholic schools and parishes. Some of you may have already heard this news but with faith in the risen Christ we learned that Dr. Marc Gonzalez died of a sudden, massive heart attack. He was the associate director for Hispanic Catechesis here in San Francisco form Nov. 2004-August 2007. Before that he was the Regional Consultant for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles form 1988-1994 and the Oakland Catechetical Resource Specialist 1994-2003. From San Francisco he served as Director of Faith and Ministry Formation in Los Vegas 2007-2015. He served on the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership as a regional representative and board member. He was living with his Mother in southern California and caring for her. Michele Bussey the director of religious education at St. Andrew Church in Daly City died after a long illness. For over thirty six years her ministry had been to work with the children and youth in the parish for their faith formation and sacraments. She was one of the first program directors to intergrade our special needs persons with her youth confirmation and to see the beauty for friendship and work together. She was know for her hospitality to the deanery meetings and basic catechist formation. She is survived by her husband and children. Please pray for her and the parish. May the Lord of all goodness bring her to her heavenly reward. W ALK W ITH JESUS AS YOU ACCOMPANY OTHERS ON THE PATH TO- W ARDS HOLINESS.
