Corinth Baptist Church The Church That Loves January 2018 Newsletter REQUEST FROM THE PASTOR As we enter into 2018, I am asking the Church to enter into a time of Fasting and Prayer between January 2 nd and January 5 th. Please keep Lost Souls, our Church Family, our Ministry Teams and Ministry Vision as part of your prayer requests. Pastor Phil MEETING OF ALL MINISTRY TEAMS 5 PM January 7 Family Life Center ALL Ministry Team Leaders and anyone interested in organizing a new mission/ministry for our church, please make plans to attend. Everyone should bring written outlines of plans and ideas for the coming year for expansion and improving the effectiveness of these mission ministries. This initial meeting will be for planning and discussions we may need subsequent meetings as appropriate to fine tune and to discuss the implementation of these ideas and plans.

Pastor s Page January 2018 What a great Christmas we have experienced at Corinth Baptist Church. The Cantata, the children s presentation, along with the church wide Christmas party, and our candlelight service for Christmas eve reminded us of the real reason for this special season, the birth of our Savior, the Lord, Jesus Christ. I would like to thank each and every one that planned, directed, worked and participated in each of the events. You have made it so very special with your dedication and efforts. I also want to thank each of you within the church for your cards, well wishes and gifts throughout this Christmas season. Linda and I appreciate and love each of you and thank you for the opportunity to serve you and our Lord at Corinth Baptist Church. We are now embarking into a new year 2018. It is my prayer that this year will be an even greater success in ministry for our Lord. The church has passed a new budget for 2018 and it has reallocated the percentage of mission funds to include a greater amount for our local church administered mission programs. I will be asking the mission ministry group leaders to be meeting with us early in January that we may begin planning and organizing these mission efforts. We are also asking our folks to give us suggestions for expansion and the inclusion of new mission projects for our church to become involved with. I will be asking the WOM and Baptist Men groups for suggestions and plans for their ministries for the upcoming year. The Youth Ministry will also be included and asked to submit plans and projects for mission programs as well. Our Deacon Family ministry is to be expanded and better executed. The Meet me at the Bridge and the Philippine Children s Ministry as well as other outreach ministries are encouraged to meet and plan with us as well. I believe that our outstanding support of Baptist Children s Homes in 2017 is just the beginning. I would like to see someone step-up and organize a ministry that could visit, mentor and assist on occasion at the various children home campuses when clean-up, repair or other needs are made known. We also need a liaison person for our church to keep abreast of the activities of the EBA that Corinth may like to be a part of. It seems best prior to any planning or meeting that our Church enter into a time of fasting and prayer. I would humbly ask each of you to commit to a time of fasting and prayer for the time period of January 2 thru January 5 and longer as the Lord may lead. While there may be many issues and concerns you have in your fasting and prayer time, I ask that you especially consider prayer for: Lost Souls, Our Church Family, Our Nation, Our Mission Vision and our search committee for a Youth pastor. There will be more to come in the days and months ahead. Again, thanks for all that you do in service to the work of Jesus Christ at Corinth Baptist Church, and Happy New Year. In Christ, Philip Eakins, Pastor

Meet Me at the Bridge As I have been reflecting over the events of 2017, I cannot help but give praise to God for all He has done through the Bridge Ministry. He has taken it from the desire He placed in my heart to serve those less fortunate (especially the homeless) to a church-wide and community outreach. God continues to amaze me every month as I learn of His ways and His heart and as I learn to trust Him more and more. I also want to thank everyone that has given in any way this past yearwhether it was the giving of your time, money, donations needed each month or serving at the Bridge. But, what I am especially thankful for are your prayers. This ministry cannot function without prayer. We will return to the Bridge on January 20, 2018. This month we will continue to collect coats, blankets, long johns, lotion and chapstick. Several people have asked about hoodies and sweat shirts. Yes, we will take anything that will help keep the homeless of Durham warm during the winter months. I am looking forward to serving along-side each of you in this new year. I can hardly wait to see what God has planned for us in 2018! In service to Him, Allison
