Church Newsletter: December 2014 Will Hamric, Pastor will.hamric@richmondhillbc.com Justin Crouse, Youth Pastor Justin.crouse@richmondhillbc.com Church Office: 336-699-8139 Upcoming Events Get ready for the Christmas Program in the FLC on Sunday night, December 21 at 6 PM. The Christmas Cross is a Jeff Slaughter creation. Miss Carolyn Bells, our children's choir director, is leading the kids through their first rehearsal for this year's Christmas Extravaganza. As they begin to share their thoughts on Christmas, the heart of the story comes to the forefront as Mary begins to tell everyone about the Christmas Cross a very special ornament with special significance an heirloom, handed down by her grandmother. The opportunity presented by the ornament changes the lives and hearts of all. The Preschoolers will also entertain us this evening with their Annual Christmas presentation preceding the Youth program. The 2nd Annual Soup Luncheon for the widow and widowers of the church will be held December 29th at noon at the home of Bob and Toni Wright. All the widows and widowers are invited to attend. Transportation will be provided to anyone who needs it. 336.699.2704 Looking for stocking stuffers or Christmas gifts for family or friends? How about some delicious Nuts! See a "Purple Hat" to get yours in time for Christmas. The Pastor s Corner A Sunday School teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to Honor thy father and thy mother, she asked them, Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters? Without missing a beat, one little boy answered, Thou shalt not kill Sometimes it is hard for brothers and sisters to get along. In my family the middle two brothers would have terrible fights when they were young. As they grew into adults they became best friends. Luke 2:14 says, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Jesus states in Matthew 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. God wants peace on earth and He wants peace among His family. If you are a Christian you want that too. God s children are not war mongers, they are peace makers. Sometimes those who are young in the faith do not play well with others but those who are mature in Christ love each other and abide in peace. Romans 14:17 states, For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Those three just seem to go along together don t they? God bless you, May your Christmas be filled with peace, Pastor Will Hamric
