Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV) It is the vision of Mount Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 2 MOBC COMMUNITY NEWS!! August 26 - December 2, 2018 The Pulpit Attire is Green We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 26th until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. Theme For This Quarter: GOD S WORLD AND GOD S PEOPLE In Genesis, the book of beginnings, God is revealed as the Creator, Sustainer, Judge, and Redeemer, who brought all things into being. The fall quarter surveys the book of Genesis in developing sessions on God s creation of the universe, earth, and people. It also details how God continues to co-labor with sinful humanity in reconciling and re-creating order in all things. HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). UNIT 2 GOD DESTROYS AND RE-CREATES This unit has four sessions. Noah and his family are presented in the first two sessions as righteous followers of God, who help repopulate and restore the 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that earth after the destruction caused by the great flood. The biblical couples, He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and Abraham & Sarah, Isaac & Rebekah, who worked with God in the cycle of believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For continuing creation, are studied in the last two sessions of the unit. God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but NEXT WEEK S LESSON: October 28, 2018 have eternal life (John 3:16). Isaac and Rebekah Continue the Legacy Genesis 24:12-21, 61-67 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in People often must face decisions that will change their lives forever. How His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for can we make the most of the opportunities life gives us? Rebekah took loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your initiative in answering the call to become the wife of Isaac and thus to play heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as rean important role in the unfolding of God s promises. ceived Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). * MONDAY: Mutual Love of Wives and Husbands Ephesians 5:21-33 TUESDAY: Inherit the Blessings of Marriage 1 Peter 3:1-9 * WEDNESDAY: Jacob Meets Rachel at the Well Genesis 29:1-14 * THURSDAY: Searching for a Wife for Isaac Genesis 24:1-14 * FRIDAY: Rebekah Becomes Isaac s Wife Genesis 24:45-51 * SATURDAY: Rebekah Blessed for Her Commitment * * Genesis 24:54b-61 SUNDAY: Isaac and Rebekah Joined in Love Genesis 24:12-21, 61-67 Sermon Highlights Young Adult Sunday October 14, 2018 Rev. Cee Cee Jackson, Assistant Pastor Seventh Street Memorial Baptist Church Title: I Came to Win Text: Philippians 3:13-14 Main Idea: Paul encouraged the church at Philippi to focus on the good news of the gospel. Because of the good news of the gospel you can have an I came to win attitude. I came to win because: Main Points: 1) I m playing zero games with the devil. 2) I m taking back what the enemy has stolen. 3) I won t let the devil defeat me. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! Heavenly Father, I now understand my need to have my sins forgiven. I also realize that only Jesus because of His sacrifice on the cross can forgive my sin. I put my faith and trust in Jesus today. Please forgive me and become the Lord of my life. MOBC Bible Institute The Bible Institute is now in session. Class will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM 8:00 PM in the, Classroom #1.
