Church Council Minutes September 12, 2017 The Council meeting was called to order by Moderator, Debbie Awes. Pastor Chuck opened with a prayer. In attendance: Debbie Awes, Pastor Chuck, Shirley Quinn, Dixie McCampbell, Debbie Tomicich, Jay West, Renee Gabrian. Dixie moved 8-8-17 minutes be approved. Debbie Tomicich seconded the motion, and vote was taken to approve minutes as written. Financial Secretary: Debbie reported 5 pledges have come in for 2018 Treasurer: Our open collection budget is $7000 over budget, expenses are $182.00 over budget, and we are operating within budget by $5000.00. Pastor: Adult Sunday school program on the Book of Amos started 9-10-17 with 7 attending class. Book study on forgiveness will begin 9-20-17. Children s curriculum has arrived. Pastor Chuck has been selected from a group of Pastors under age 57 to attend an all expense paid conference in Florida called Credo. This conference is based on best practices for healthy pastorates which leads to healthy churches. Chuck will attend this retreat 10-24-17 to 10-30-17. He will be on vacation 10-31-17 to 11-6-17 as per Credo s recommendation following this conference. Chuck will be on vacation 11-21-17 to 11-28-17 to attend their granddaughter s baptism. There is a church conference business meeting this week at Camp Mimanagish which Chuck will be attending 9-14-17 and 9-15-17. Moderator: Debbie reported Ken Awes has agreed to join the financial committee. Ministry chairs need to get their budget reports to Finance Committee by 10-15-17. Lynette will email this deadline to chair persons. The Vice Moderator position remains vacant. Ministry: Diaconate has submitted a written report to be put on file Facilities Management: Painting, plastering, and light bulb replacements are being done by Jay and Skip Bratton. Winterizing plans include snow removal by Dave Peterson in front of church and back by Blade Runner. Jay will explore costs, availability of janitorial services, recruitment vs volunteers, and ordering of supplies. Christian Education: Debbie Awes reported Sunday School has started, no application for Christian Ed director has been received. Stewardship & Missions: A mountain scene has been made by Luanne and Dan Brown and a skit was presented at services 9-10-17. A hiker will climb the mountain as pledges are received. Bylaws: Chuck reported committee met this week and will meet every three weeks in the future. Background is finished, now answering quest. Old Business: none New Business: Chuck reports the grief group that was completed 6 months ago will meet 9-16-17 hosted by Pastor Chuck and Patty. A luncheon will be held 9-17-17 after church in honor of Sharon and Brian Roat. The next Council meeting is scheduled for 10-10-17 at 5:00 pm. Journey to Generosity: The Way of Jesus, Matthew 35-10:23 Our 2018 stewardship theme. Please, with prayer and consideration, plan your giving to Red Lodge Community Church for the coming year. Please join your church family for a special coffee hour in the church basement following worship on October 16th (consecration Sunday) to celebrate the climb up the mountain. Thank you, Stewardship & Mission Ministry Grief Support Group will meet Saturday, October 14, 2017, 4:00 p.m. Handling the Holidays will be the focus. It is that time of year again, Harvest Dinner time. This year the annual Harvest Dinner will be held on November 5th from 11:30 am until 5:00 pm. Turkey and ham with all the trimmings, pies, salads and rolls will satisfy your taste buds beyond belief. The cost will be $10.00 for adults, $3.00 for children 5-12 ages, and 4 and under eat free. There will be sign-up sheets in the Upper Room for all to sign up for your favorite duties to create this much anticipated community event. Don & Karen Kinney and Pam Schuessler are chairing the event and want to thank you so much for last year and thank you in advance for signing up and helping this year.
