Welcome Call to Worship based on Psalm 36 Your love is as high as the heavens, O God; your faithfulness soars through the skies. Your righteousness reaches the towering peaks; your justice the depths of the sea. We shelter beneath your wings; we feast on the food you provide. We open our eyes to drink in your goodness; for you are the source of all life, and because of your light we see light. Song This is Amazing Grace Who breaks the power of sin and darkness Whose love is mighty and so much stronger The King of Glory, the King above all kings Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder The King of Glory, the King above all kings Refrain: This is amazing grace, This is unfailing love That You would take my place That You would bear my cross You lay down Your life, That I would be set free Oh, Jesus, I sing for all that You ve done for me Who brings our chaos back into order Who makes the orphan a son and daughter The King of Glory, the King of Glory Who rules the nations with truth and justice Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance The King of Glory, the King above all kings This is... 3

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain Worthy is the King who conquered the grave Worthy is the Lamb who was slain Worthy is the King who conquered the grave Worthy is the Lamb who was slain Worthy is the King who conquered the grave This is... Song All Creatures of Our God and King All creatures of our God and King Lift up your voice and with us sing O praise Him alleluia Thou burning sun with golden beam Thou silver moon with softer gleam O praise Him O praise Him, Alleluia alleluia alleluia Thou rushing wind that art so strong Ye clouds that sail in Heav n along O praise Him alleluia Thou rising morn in praise rejoice Ye lights of evening find a voice O praise Him O praise Him, Alleluia alleluia alleluia Let all things their Creator bless And worship Him in humbleness O praise Him alleluia Praise praise the Father praise the Son And praise the Spirit three in One O praise Him O praise Him, Alleluia alleluia alleluia The Word 1 Corinthians 10: 23-11:1 4 23 I have the right to do anything, you say but not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anything but not everything is constructive. 24 No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.

Reader: The Message 25 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, 26 for, The earth is the Lord s, and everything in it. 27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, This has been offered in sacrifice, then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience. 29 I am referring to the other person s conscience, not yours. For why is my freedom being judged by another s conscience? 30 If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for? 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. 1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Mark Regis You can also listen to the sermon again online at stpaulsbloor.org. The Offertory The Offertory provides an opportunity to regularly contribute to the work of God, as expressed through St Paul s. Our Vision is, by the power and grace of Jesus Christ, to be a transformative community for the city. As followers of Jesus we have the privilege to participate in and stewardship responsibility to support God s Kingdom ministry through the local church. You can give by: putting contributions in the offering plate that is passed around, setting up preauthorized giving, or giving online using either our website or app. Thank you for your generosity. 5

Song Take My Life and Let it Be Take my life and let it be Consecrated Lord to Thee Take my moments and my days Let them flow in ceaseless praise Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of Thy love Take my feet and let them be Swift and beautiful for Thee Take my voice and let me sing Always only for my King Take my lips and let them be Filled with messages from Thee Take my love my Lord I pour At Thy feet its treasure store Take myself and I will be Ever only all for Thee Offertory Prayer God you are eternally blessed, and possess all things in heaven and on earth. All things come from you, and we give back to you from what you have so generously given us. Amen. What We Believe Do you believe and trust in God the Father? I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 6 Do you believe and trust in his Son Jesus Christ? I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe and trust in the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers for the World, the Church, Ourselves The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Confession Most merciful Father, we have sinned and are guilty before you. Forgive us for deception and untruthfulness in our dealings with others. Forgive us in our glances and imagination; for pining after more comfort, status, beauty and wealth than you have given us. Forgive us for our hard-heartedness toward you and our neighbours; for our pride and self-absorption; and above all, for doubting your love for us. We thank you for your mercy and the grace to amend our lives, and we ask for your Spirit to transform us into your likeness. Amen. 7

May Almighty God, whose steadfast love is as great as the heavens are high above the earth, remove your sins from you, as far as the east is from the west, strengthen your life in his kingdom, and keep you upright to the last day; through Jesus Christ our merciful Lord. Amen. The Eucharistic Prayer The Lord is here. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. 8 Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give thanks and praise. It is right to praise you, Father, Lord of all creation; in your love you made us for yourself. When we turned away you did not reject us, but came to meet us in your Son. You embraced us as your children and welcomed us to sit and eat with you. In Christ you shared our life that we might live in him and he in us. He opened his arms of love upon the cross and made for all the perfect sacrifice for sin. On the night he was betrayed, at supper with his friends he took bread, and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to them, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Father, we do this in remembrance of him: his body is the bread of life. At the end of supper, taking the cup of wine, he gave you thanks, and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins; do this in remembrance of me. Father, we do this in remembrance of him: his blood is shed for all.

As we proclaim his death and celebrate his rising in glory, send your Holy Spirit that this bread and this wine may be to us the body and blood of your dear Son. As we eat and drink these holy gifts make us one in Christ, our risen Lord. The Communion All who are baptized in any Christian Church and seek to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour may receive the bread and the wine. To receive the bread, hold out your hands, crossed with palms up To receive the wine, hold the bottom of the cup and guide it to your mouth If you prefer to receive a blessing, please indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest. For health reasons, dipping the bread in the wine is not permitted. If you require gluten-free wafers, please let an administrant know. Song Future/Past You hold the reins on the sun and the moon Like horses driven by kings You cover the mountains the valleys below With the breadth of Your mighty wings All treasures of wisdom and things to be known Are hidden inside of Your hand And in this fortunate turn of events You ask me to be Your friend You ask me to be Your friend Refrain: And You, You are my first You are my last You are my future and my past The constellations are swimming inside The breadth of Your desire Where could I run where could I hide From your heart s jealous fire And You... You are the beginning and the end 9

Song Lord I Need You Lord, I come, I confess Bowing here I find my rest Without You I fall apart You re the One that guides my heart Refrain: Lord, I need You, oh, I need You Every hour I need You My one defence, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You Where sin runs deep Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are And where You are, Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me Lord, I need You The Prayer After Communion Everlasting God, in faith you have adopted us as your children, made us members of the body of Christ and chosen us as inheritors of your kingdom: We thank you that in this bread and wine you renew your promises within us, empower us by your Spirit to witness and to serve, and send us out as disciples of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Announcements Song Hymn of the Ages All history shall bow before Your throne Time and space on bended knee shall come Though kingdoms pass away Your majesty remains How great You are How great must be Your song 10

Closing Responses May the strength of God pilot us, and the power of God preserve us. The Alpha and Omega without end The Everlasting makes this wretch His friend The angels stand in awe This beggar heart responds How great You are How great must be Your song Refrain: You re the hymn of the ages The hope of all the world You carried our redemption on Your shoulders You re the anthem of salvation Jesus Lord of Lords Your legacy will echo through the ages Oh for a countless choir in my lungs To sing Your praises with a thousand tongues The purpose in my days Is ever to proclaim How great You are How great must be Your song You re the... May the wisdom of God instruct us, and the hand of God protect us. May the way of God direct us, may the shield of God defend us. (A Gaelic blessing) And may the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be with you now, and for evermore. Amen. 11
