V. BLESSING Of God towards human beings: to act in man s life and accomplish His purposes instead of alowing men to have their own way He acts for our good as He sees our need and not necesarily for our desire, God sent His Son to bless us, to intervene in our lives with what He planned to do for us. (1) the gift of God s grace. (2) Of Human Beings toward God: to praise, with thanksgiving (3) Of Human Beings toward human beings: to invoke God s blesing upon, which is God s action toaccomplish His wil. (4) we consecrate them to divine use (5) A) BIBLICAL FOUNDATION FOR BLESSING a. salvation the greatest blessing! 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than al, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. (John 10:27-29)

b. Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:3-14) B) PRAYER PROCESS FOR BLESSING If the house has been swept clean (Luke 11:25), it should not be left empty, but rather filled with the light and love of Jesus. Be open to the Holy Spirit revealing God s heart to you, so that you can speak His truth as you pray together during the time of blessing. With the Lord, we can be confident He will complete the good work He has begun this day! Words of blesing afirm the work we have done in prayer together we are not alone, we are accepted in Christ, we are approved in Christ, we are clothed with Christ, we are safe in Christ, we are restored in Christ, we have a living hope in Christ. Jesus, full of grace and truth, comes to set us free and heal us in mind, body and spirit! This is the healing truth. (5)

The Word is filled with examples of God blessing His children as we yield more of our lives to Jesus as Lord. Please search out and meditate on places in the Word where God reveals His heart for blessing and how His children have chosen to respond. Having Renounced the Lie, be Blessed by the Truth Fear You are not Alone 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. 3 Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. 5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent

sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD. 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! 8You have said, "Seek my face." My heart says to you, "Your face, LORD, do I seek." 9 Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! 10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in. 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. 13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (Psalm 27) Rejection You are Accepted in Christ 23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. 24You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you wil receive me to glory. (Psalm 73:23-24) And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20b)

Worthlessness You are Approved in Christ, Handmade and Precious 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works;my soul knows it very wel. (Psalm 139:13-14) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; (2 Cor. 5:17-18) Shame You are Clothed with Christ 12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Col. 3:12-17) Insecurity You are Safe with Christ 1 O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; 2 many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God. 3 But you, O LORD, are a shield about me,

my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4 I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hil. (Psalm 3:1-4 Defilement You are Restored in Christ 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a wiling spirit. (Psalm 51:10-12) 31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and the truth wil set you free. (John 8:31-32) 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-- that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filed with al the fulnes of God. (Ephesians 3:14-21) Hopelessness You Have a Living Hope in Christ 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. 2: 6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
