Liberia West Africa
But we can finish what America started in 1821 when Liberia became the only colony ever established by the USA Liberians see themselves as America s little sister but they sometimes feel like America s step-child...
In 1821 First freed slaves arrive from the US 1848 Liberia s independence, first democratic republic in Africa For the next 130 years Liberia prospered unlike any other African nation ever has...
But then in 1980... Samuel Doe: Military Coup, murders president Tolbert, economy falls 1990 Prince Johnson and Charles Taylor overthrow Doe s regime 1991-2003 Chaos with tribal armies fighting each other and Taylor s armies
Since 2004 Liberia has been rebuilding as a nation. After suffering through nearly 25 years of rebellion, restoration would be impossible without Jesus Christ And that is where GGM s work begins
Our home base in Monrovia Liberia is ELWA, a mission compound established in the 1950s by SIM ELWA Campus includes: ELWA Ministry: 300 Liberians who work in the radio station, school, hospital, property and management SIM: Formerly Sudan Interior Missions, now Serving in Missions Samaritan's Purse: Franklins Graham s ministry for Education and Relief And now Grace Gospel Missions: Dan and Pat Hill and Joe-Elliott Guimond working with all these ministries
ELWA (Eternal Love Winning Africa) has an amazing history as a ministry that always gave out the Truth of God s Word Pat and Joe get to work in the School (grades k-9) and provide Bible teaching, teacher training, youth leadership training and VBS during the school breaks Pat also will be providing remedial education for the many adults whose education was interrupted by the wars
At ELWA Dan will be ministering to all 300 staff and employees in daily and department devotions, Bible teaching, leadership training and providing biblical advise
SIM (Serving in Missions) was the oldest and original mission organization in Liberia. They have a strong relationship with the ECUL (Evangelical Church Union of Liberia) and Dan is teaching the Bible Training for Pastors courses to pastors and church leaders in Monrovia.
Samaritan s Purse trains pastors and church leaders up country in the rural areas.
