Date: 15 & 16 Oct, 22 & 23 Oct, 29 & 30 Oct, 5 & 6 Nov, 12 & 13 Nov, 19 & 20 Nov and 26 & 27 Nov, 3 & 4 Dec 2016 Story Theme: Creation Scripture Text: Genesis 1 Teaching Focus: To teach the 7 days of Creation Story Duration: 8 weeks Learning Objective for Leaders To help the children memorize the 7 days of Creation through story recital and body movement. Each week, we will focus on 1 day of the Creation story. The teaching will be done through songs, games and crafts. Routine is very important for toddlers. It helps prepare them mentally for the activity. Familiarity also makes them more receptive to the teaching and thus more responsive to follow instructions. Biblical Learning Objectives for Children 1. To teach children how each day of the Creation is dependent on the completion of the previous day of Creation. 2. To teach the children the greatness of God. Small Group Teaching Two Parts Each week, in the small group teaching, there are two parts namely: Part 1 Story Recital Cum Movement: You will be teaching using your body movement and actions as you narrate the Creation story. As such, your movement must be big because you are the visual aid and like any teaching aids, you must be loud and exciting to capture the children s attention and engage them. Part 2 Weekly Creation Focus: In this part, there will be a take home craft that will be related to the weekly focus. You will use the following teaching aid to teach Part 2. Date Topic Part 2 Teaching Aid Week 1 (Oct 15 & 16) Day and Night Sample craft Week 2 (Oct 22 & 23) Sky Sample craft Week 3 (Oct 29 & 30) Land Sample craft Week 4 (Nov 5 & 6) Heavenly Bodies Sample craft Week 5 (Nov 12 & 13) Birds Storyboards Week 6 (Nov 19 & 20) Fishes Storyboards Week 7 (Nov 26 & 27) Animals Storyboards Week 8 (Dec 3 & 4) People Your body movement and actions Using sample craft to teach Part 2 This is done as you use the Sample Craft to teach the children the what and why God had created for us to enjoy. End the weekly teaching by showing the children how to do the craft. Using storyboard to teach Part 2 Storyboard is one of the oldest teaching methods. As you use the storyboards, do ensure that you hold them at the children s eye level and to use them to highlight the weekly Creation focus and how great God is to have created it out of nothing.
