Prayer Meeting Descriptions They all joined together constantly in prayer They devoted themselves...to prayer. One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer at three in the afternoon. When they heard this [Peter and John s report], they raised their voices together in prayer to God. Sovereign Lord, they said, you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them...after they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly....and [we the Apostles] will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word. About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. All of them, including wives and children, accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.
