Mt. Zion Church of Ontario Statement to Read before Leading Responsive Reading Acts 2:41-47 (NASB) Good Morning! Our theme for 2018 is Living for God-Sized Results! Join me in reading the refreshing teaching from Jesus, regarding living for God-sized results. Minister 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Congregation 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Minister 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. Congregation 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; Minister Everyone 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. 3

Saturday, 10/20/2018, 5:00pm that Produces Holy Spirit Boldness to Advance the Gospel Acts 4:23-31 Pastor Brian Kennedy, Sr. TEXT QUESTIONS TO PASTOR AS HE IS PREACHING TO: (909) 638-2696 Key Statement: Despite threats, prayer produces Holy Spirit boldness to advance the gospel. A. Peter and John had the Support of their Christian Family Despite Threats (Acts 4:23). 1. Peter and John were in custody for at least two days (Acts 4:23; cf. 3, 5-7). 2. Peter and John reported the threats made by the highest ranking priests (v. 23). a. The motives behind the threats (vs. 16-17; see John 11:45-48). b. The threats designed to neutralize the gospel (vs. 18, 21). Note: When you deal with threats or roadblocks on your journey of faith, what does your support group look like? Peter and John had the other 10 Apostles, plus other followers of Jesus (they did not hesitate to get to their Christian family). Do you have a supportive Christian family you can turn to? If you turn to the wrong family, they will turn you out, but if you turn to the right family, they will pray you through. Do you want to be turned out, or prayed through? This is your choice! B. The Christian Family Prayed through for Boldness to Advance the Gospel (vs. 24-31). 1. The first Christians responded to the threats with one-minded prayer (v. 24). Note: Their one-minded prayer was a notable characteristic (Acts 1:14, 24; 2:1, 14, 42; 3:1). 2. Their one-minded prayer highlighted aspects of God s Sovereignty (vs. 24-30). a. God s Sovereignty in His creation (v. 24; cf. Gen. 2 & 3). b. God s Sovereignty in using David to prophesy about His power, His mercy, and His grace (vs. 25-26; cf. Ps. 2). c. God s Sovereignty in converting evil actions into His redemptive purpose (vs. 27-28; cf. John 12:32; Gen. 50:19-20 don t ever forget Rom. 8:28). d. God s Sovereignty in providing His children increased boldness to advance the gospel in the face of threats and hostility (v. 29). e. God s Sovereignty in providing more signs and wonders (the WOW factor) through Jesus for the purpose of advancing the gospel (v. 30; cf. Acts 2:43). 3. Their one-minded prayer resulted in another reassuring display of God s presence and power (P & P) to further advance the gospel (v. 31). a. The meeting place was shaken (His presence & power). b. They were filled with the Holy Spirit (His presence & power). c. They spoke the Word of God with boldness (His presence and power). Note: Remember in sharing the gospel, God s P & P is working in the speaker (John 14:16), in the message (Rom. 1:16), and in the listener (John 16:7-11). Note: These Christians prayed for more boldness, and more signs and wonders. God immediately answered with the shaking of the meeting place (a WOW factor moment), and the filling of the Holy Spirit (an ongoing WOW factor on the inside of them that worked on the outside of them as they spoke the Word of God with boldness despite opposition). Personal : Father, Your Word clearly reveals how praying for increased boldness to advance the gospel works. Father, make us a Christian family, who with one voice and total faith in Your sovereignty, prays for increased boldness, and signs and wonders for the purpose of advancing the gospel. Father, help me to speak boldly about Jesus so that people get saved and the church grows, despite opposition. I live to love and serve You. In the name of Jesus I prayer, amen. 7
Sunday, 10/21/2018, 8:00am "You've Been Set Up!" Ephesians 2:4-10 Minister James Martin Key statement: You must always be encouraged regardless of the circumstances. 1. You must stay the course. 2. Sometimes staying the course is hard. 3. Your obedience will be rewarded. Sunday, 10/21/2018, 10:30am The Call to Evangelism Within the Heart of Man Minister Mike Lopez Introduction: The Father/Word/Spirit communicates not just to allow our reasoning to determine whether or not we want to participate alongside His will, but rather to create a hunger, thirst, and passion within us authoritatively, purposefully, and intentionally. The Macedonian Call (Acts 16:6-10) Have you ever wondered when you see someone in need you have a desire to help them? There is a call of The Spirit of God, for a man to stand square with himself and his Maker. There is a call and a crying from a dying world please come and save us!! I. His Compassion (Matt. 9:35-38)??What did Jesus say and do regarding the matter of Evangelism?? II. The Call (Luke 9:1-6) III. The Power and Purpose Outlined (Luke 10:17-2; John 20:19-22) IV. The Empowering Aspect and The Directive Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Not my will, but Your Will (Mark 14:36; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6; John 15:16; Luke 18:9). Whosoever calls on the Name of The Lord. 8
