Dear Fr. Andrew, I was pleased to be able to celebratee the Sacrament of Confirmation with the young people of Guardian Angels, Orillia and St. Columkille, Uptergrove. Indeed it was a great celebration and I know this is to the credit of all the people who assisted you with the celebration of this important sacrament. Thank you for your hospitality. Lectio Divina As a result of the extensive renovations underway at St. Michael s Cathedral, Lectio Divina with Cardinal Collins will travel throughout the Archdiocese in 2016. On Sunday, June 5, it will be hosted at St. Mary s Parish, 65 Amelia, Barrie. We hope you will be able to join Cardinal Collins and our faith community. Lectio Divina ( divine, or sacred, reading ) is the name given to a spiritual tradition among Christians over the last two thousand years. This form of prayer involves three distinct stages: a) reading a short scripture passage b) reflecting on the passage and c) a short period of silence. We begin with Vespers (Evening Prayer) at 7:00 pm, followed by the Lectio Divina from 7:30 to 8:15 pm. All are welcome to join Cardinal Collins for this special evening of prayer. Daytime Camp for Grades 1-6 Guardian Angels is offering a week-long daytime camp for children going into grades 1-6 called Totus Tuus August 8-12. There is also an evening program for those going into grades 7-12. This is an Archdiocesan program run by specially trained college students who spread the Good News through catechetical instruction, Mass, confession, songs and games. The cost is $75 per student for the daytime program, $100 for 2 or more children in a family and $20 for the 5 evenings. Space is limited. On Saturday, May 28 Guardian Angels will have a display about our parish at the annual Orillia and District Association of Churches Faith Fair, as part of the Farmers Market.
