Page 1 INTRO, BACKGROUND, VISION, PLAN + PRAYER HELLO! We are so happy you are reading this right now as it means there is a part of you that wants to go out and spread the love of Jesus to others- outside of the comfort of your own home and country. Regardless if you end up going on this trip or not, we pray you continue to chase after this desire in your heart and do something about it. God has put desires in your heart for a reason, and you clicking on this application is the first step in obeying and following through with that tug to go out and serve the nations! Thank you! Live Salted Missions Team QUICK FACTS Where: Burkina Faso, Africa Who : Pan Bila (a Christian Nonprofit - more info on page 3) When: June 26th - July 11th, 2017 How Much : $3,100 all expenses included ($2,000 due by March 2nd, 2017) Leaders: Emily Jamieson + Krista Hengesh BACKGROUND For the Live Salted Pacific Northwest Tour, Pan Bila was our nonprofit partner and we donated a dollar from every ticket sale to the organization ($416!) as well as did a granny panty underwear drive to collect pairs of underwear for the ladies housed in the safe home in Burkina Faso (we collected 395 pairs!). When Krista, the Live Salted founder, got connected with this ministry and heard about the stories of the women there, she knew she wasn t just going to be able to mail over a bag of undies and a check for some money- she wanted to go over first hand and deliver it from a heart to a heart. So that is what we are doing! Before you look further into this opportunity, we encourage you to watch the video on page 3 and check out the website to see if your heart aligns with what the ministry is doing and if you want to get involved. VISION - Salt yourself + Season the World. Salt yourself - Discipleship Focused We are only able to eternally influence God s kingdom when we are living attached to the vine and drinking from the well of eternal life, and we do that through making our faith-walk with the Lord our #1 priority in life. How are we
Page 2 supposed to go out and make disciples of men, if we are not walking as a disciple of Christ ourselves? This trip will be focused on discipleship, with a big emphasis put on community, time in prayer, reading the Bible, and asking the hard questions that leave you thinking and result in transformation. Season the World - Mission Focused Functioning out of our connectedness to the Lord and one another, we will be going into Burkina Faso, Africa and partnering with Pan Bila in a wide variety of activities. We have some things planned such as putting on a Live Salted camp for the women housed in the safe home, putting together a worship night with christmas lights, and helping out however we can be used- but a lot of this trip is up to the team. We will be working closely with Melanie, our contact in Africa, in determining what the wants and desires of the team are and how we can best use the gifts God has given us while there. TIME TABLE ***As you can see the turn around time is EXTREMELY fast. We know this is not ideal, or may not even be possible, but we believe in a BIG God who wants to do BIG things through us as we have the faith that He will provide both the people we need for a team as well as the resources to get us there*** 2/16 Applications Open 2/21 Applications Close at 11:59PM 2/22-2/25 Interviews, Screening, Reference Checks 2/26 Team is selected (There are only 10 spots available + decision made by Live Salted Missions Committee. Lord, we pray you will bring together the team you want and the resources we need to make this trip a reality. There are sisters out there that we want to touch, and come alongside of on this side of eternity. We want to bring joy to their faces and the everlasting reminder that you care about each and every one of us as we are, and you dream for us more than we can dream for ourselves. Be in all the details. Be in our safety. Be in our spiritual growth
Page 3 to be closer to you. And over everything, let your will be done through this trip as it is in heaven. -Amen PAN BILA OVERVIEW + INFO WHO IS PAN BILA? Pan Bila is a Christian organization, founded on the example of Christ s love for us. We are not biased about people s background, their ethnic group or religious beliefs. Instead, we select them based on their destitution. We only help those in greatest need. - taken from website. WHAT IS THEIR FOCUS? Our focus is on helping the children who are in the greatest need, giving them an opportunity to go to school instead of being forced to work in the fields under the scorching sun in order to survive. To offset the impact had on the struggling families, of one less set of hands working in the fields, we support them through food distribution. This ensures the child will stay in school without the family having to starve. We also help the families start up small businesses through micro loans. Pan Bila has a wide array of tools in their arsenal to fight against poverty. - taken from website. WHERE IS PAN BILA LOCATED? They are located in Burkina Faso, Africa. WHAT DOES PAN BILA DO? They have a lot of different programs and activities. They have and run a school, teach computer classes, have a sponsorship program for children at their housing facilities, have a micro-financing program, awareness campaigns to educate the people in their surrounding communities, and operate a safe-home for girls that were taken off of the street (which is where we will be spending most of our time). WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? As a team, we have a lot of freedom in what exactly we will do so we will nail down specifics once the team is selected, but we will be putting on a 1-2 day Live Salted camp for the women complete with games, activities, teaching, and merchandise to give them. There will also be time spent at the orphanage, a chance to go out into the bush to do ministry, helping around with a few building projects possibly, and a lot of time spent bonding and digging into the word of God together. A dream we have is to put on a worship night for these ladies under Christmas lights- creating an environment they have never seen or witnessed before. WANT MORE INFO? Do so on these links below. Page 8 GUIDELINES FOR SHORT TERM MISSION + AGREEMENT FORM FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Individuals who feel called by God to participate in a short-term mission trip are responsible for raising the necessary funds to cover expenses for their own missions trip. When you make a deposit on a trip, or when you begin to receive support, accounting will begin to track your contributions. You and others may make contributions at any time. Checks for missions trips should be made out to Salt Ministries. Please be aware that any excess contributions or funds will be pooled and applied to other team expenses, or to other areas of need for Live Salted. Excess funds may not be refunded or re-designated by you. PRAYER SUPPORT Even more important than raising financial support is raising a personal prayer team. You will be asked to recruit five individuals who will pray for you personally and the team while you are preparing to go, while you are there, and when you return from your trip. Begin recruiting these people right away so they can be praying for you as you raise funds and complete other trip preparations. From time to time, your trip leader will provide you with information and requests to share with your prayer team. COMMITMENT By submitting this application, you are committing to being available for the dates of the trip (June 26th-July 11th), excited to go if selected by the Live Salted Missions Committee, dedicated towards raising all the funds you need by the payment due dates, and prayerful about the trip and all God has planned for our time there. AGREEMENT I have read the guidelines for short-term missions. I understand my responsibilities as outlined there in terms of financial responsibilities, prayer support, and commitment, and other areas of preparation. Signature Date (If applicant is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must also sign) I, the parent/legal guardian of the above applicant, have read and understand the guidelines for short term missions. Page 9 LIVE SALTED CHECKLIST AND THINGS General Checklist: I am not allergic to peanuts (Pan Bila carries peanut products and are unable to accommodate for people with peanut allergies) I can withstand intense heat and humidity ( highs are in the triple digits and lows barely drop below 90) I trust I can raise $2,000 by March 2nd, 2017 to cover the cost of my plane ticket and deposit on the trip, and the remaining $1,100 as outlined in the payment plan above. I am a team player, willing to work for the good of the team, at times, putting my own comfort and needs aside for the sake of someone else. I can be flexible and go with the flow, as things do not always go as planned in Africa. I will have a positive attitude, eager to get the most out of this trip as possible. If selected for the team, I will commit this trip to prayer and pray for God to do BIG things through the team including myself. I am willing to get shots and immunizations if recommended by doctors for the area to which we are traveling.
