The Realms of Intercession In this class, you will be introduced to fifteen (15) types of Intercessors, each with a specific anointing along with a passion to master prayer in certain realms relating to the needs of people. Some refer to these different types of Intercessors as Levels of Intercession. Some refer to them as The Intercessor s Anointing. However, for this class we will refer to them as Realms of Intercession. The term realm is used because it speaks to a dominion that an Intercessor has been anointed to master in by their influence of prayer. In that dominion, (Realm of Intercession) an Intercessor dominates in prayer over Satan s agenda in that domain and brings victory to the lives of God s people. The Fifteen Realms of Intercession are: 1) Crisis Intercessor The Crisis Intercessor is that Intercessor who is anointed to pray for others who are in a crisis. For the Crisis Intercessor, when they see an emergency or some traumatic event happening they begin to pray. The Crisis Intercessor prayer is for God to deliver the people in the crisis and to nullify the tragic event s effect. It is within this Realm of Intercession that the battle and focus is against what Satan has done and which he thinks is the last straw of destruction. (Jehoshaphat 2 Chronicles chapter 20) 2) Family Intercessor A Family Intercessor finds it their obligation to intercede on behalf of families. They help protect and guard the godly legacy of family. The love of family and the morals that stem from the family structure matters to the Family Intercessor. The Family Intercessor does not have to wait for devastating or dramatic events to happen. They will consistently and faithfully pray for a family or families that the Holy Spirit assigns them to cover in prayer. Page 1
3) Financial Intercessor The Financial Intercessor is that Intercessor who has the faith and anointing to pray for the right amount and right timing of money to come into the lives of people, groups and establishments. As it is God s will to provide the necessary finances for every good work and for every financial need, it is the Financial Intercessor s assignment to pray for that will to happen. (Elisha and the Widow s Oil 2 Kings 4) 4) General Intercessor General Intercessors are those Intercessors anointed to intercede on behalf of others for just about anything. This is why they are called General Intercessors. They are moved to pray in any Realm of Intercession. They are well equipped by their anointing to press into any realm knowing that the Holy Spirit will aid them in their task. They usually go in and out of different realms within one single prayer segment. (John prayed for his friend Gaius 3 John 2) 5) Government Intercessor Government Intercessors are a watchman type of Intercessor. They are anointed to watch over and to pray for the government and its leaders. Government Intercessors are interested in major issues, legislations, court decisions, elections, etc., that have an effect on the direction of a nation or church and when alarmed they will pray for God to intervene. Government Intercessors, in a greater depth, seek in prayer for the government of Christ to rest upon the nations of the world. (David prays for Israel 2 Samuel 7:18-24) 6) Issue Intercessor Issues cause chaos, havoc and dysfunction to the mind, body, and spirit. Issues can be chronic or they can linger for long periods of time with a purpose to make a person or people weary. People who are plagued with issues tend not to be able to stand before God Page 2
because their issues overwhelm them and produce doubt. The Issue Intercessor has the anointing to stand before God on behalf of the people for their issues. The Issue Intercessor is moved by the Holy Spirit to pray seeking deliverance, reconciliation, and for permanent solutions to issues. (Moses prays for Miriam Numbers 12:11-13) 7) Leader Intercessor Leaders are essential to groups, communities, nations, churches, etc. Leaders need prayer coverings because Satan wants to bring them down. Covering leaders in prayer is a defensive spiritual assignment. Leader Intercessors have been anointed by God to take on the burden of being that spiritual defensive barrier for our leaders. Leader Intercessors act as fighting walls to fight off the attacks of the Devil. Leader Intercessors also pray for provisional blessings to come to their leaders. (Eliezer prays for Abraham Gen 24:12-14) 8) List Intercessor The List Intercessor receives prayer requests or prophetic insight for what to pray and from these resources they develop prayer lists. They are persistent and consistent in their prayers because they are reminded by their lists. Their lists cause them to faithfully pray through the assignments God gives them. List Intercessors stay focused, steadfast and immovable to the prayer assignments indicated on their lists. They are excellent for overnight prayer sessions because they have a resource of prayer requests. (Jesus prayer in the garden, yet not written, was a list John 17:1-26) 9) Mercy Intercessor Mercy Intercessors are those Intercessors who pray for those who may need emotional, physical, financial or spiritual healing or deliverance from all kinds of hurts. Hurts which result from being a victim of wrong doing/treatment or from being the one that causes Page 3
the hurt on others. The Mercy Intercessor is anointed to hear and see the root of a person s hurt. They seek the application of God s mercy to the root of the hurt. The cry of the Mercy Intercessor is for forgiveness rather than for suffering and judgment. (Jeremiah s plea for mercy Jeremiah 14:7) 10) Personal Intercessor The Personal Intercessor has a similar anointing to that of a Leader Intercessor. What distinguishes them from a Leader Intercessor is that for the Personal Intercessor they have no regard for a person s status or position. Everyone to the Personal Intercessor is worthy of a covering of prayer. They pray for those in whom the Lord places on their heart. Usually their burden to pray is for God to intervene for the destitute and wandering fate of individuals, and for that individual s salvation, provision, protection and victory. (Jesus prayer for Peter Luke 22:31-32) 11) Prophetic Intercessor A Prophetic Intercessor is that Intercessor who is anointed to make prophetic intercession on behalf of God s people and has the anointing to prophesy as well. They hear, see, and obey what God directs them to pray and say. When the Holy Spirit is praying through a Prophetic Intercessor, the intent is to protect, purify, and prosper the people of God. The Prophetic Intercessor has the ability to see the unseen and to hear the unheard things God has for His people. Prophetic Intercessors do not have to necessarily be a Prophet. (Ezekiel was a Prophetic Intercessor Ezekiel 37) 12) Research Intercessor Research Intercessors are those who are anointed to research historical situations and patterns before they pray. They are anointed to compile and document details about a spiritual ground being covered in Page 4
prayer. Research Intercessors thrive on prayerfully collecting vital facts about strongholds and principalities (spiritual mapping) which help formulate plans of attack. Spiritual mapping is a prayer tool of identifying where demons are working. Spiritual mapping detects the existence of territorial spirits and certain demons ruling over certain geographical areas. Once a territorial spirit has been identified, its territory is mapped out and then that spirit is engaged in spiritual warfare. (Paul in Athens Acts 17:16, 22-23) 13) Salvation Intercessor Salvation Intercessors are those Intercessors who have the anointing to pray for lost souls. They intercede for lost souls to come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and not only come but accept the atonement that Christ provided on the cross and accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior. They pray for revival to come to certain places and people. They often move in the Mercy, Warfare, and Prophetic Realms of Intercession. (The thief on the cross Luke 23:42) 14) Warfare Intercessor Warfare Intercessors are those Intercessors who are anointed to go into spiritual warfare by directly engaging with the enemy under the direction of God. Spiritual warfare is a fight over truth and authority. To win the battle, Warfare Intercessors must fight from a position of under authority, the authority of Christ. They go into battle as God s military might. They fight with prayer in the spirit realm to usher in God s truth and to establish God s authority over people, places or establishments where the enemy has a stronghold. These Intercessors move under a divine protection suffering relatively little to none from the spiritual counter-attack the enemy dishes out. (Moses gave assurance to the people Exodus 14:13-14) Page 5
15) Worship Intercessor Worship is the power of our warfare, the fuel of our mercy, and the reason we are able to rejoice in all things. It is the intent of the Worship Intercessor to create an atmosphere of worship, praise, adoration and gratitude for the purpose of intercession, salvation, healing, deliverance and preparedness for the spoken Word of God. Worship Intercessors minister from a place of victory. God uses them to usher the people into His presence where there is peace and time to fill us with His Spirit. Worship Intercessors will at times sing songs as a prayer or enter into a song as a part of their prayer. Whether their worship is public or private, their heart is always pure before the Lord. (Priestly worship 2 Chronicles 5:11-14) The Challenge The question, do you know what Realm or Realms of Intercession you have been anointed to flow in? Discover your anointing for intercession and work that realm to bring victory to the lives of people. If you find yourself flowing in two or more realms you will not be out of order. It is quite common for an Intercessor to be anointed to flow in different realms. The key to this is that you must be as effective in all as you would in one. Don t try to just function in a realm just to be functioning. Otherwise, Satan will run over you and your prayers will be ineffective. The Body of Christ needs strong and willing Intercessors that will operate in their Realm of Intercession. To stand in their Page 6
post and fight no matter how intensified the engagement with the enemy may become. As Intercessors, it is our calling to pray for those who may not have strength to pray or have an understanding of how to pray. Intercession is a strategic way to be our brother s keeper. Let us rise up and do this now. Page 7
