Community Lay Directors Thoughts Different Versions of Emmaus The newsletter this week will give you information about a another Emmaus ministry called Kairos Outside While Kairos is an Emmaus ministry that has been modified to provide this walk to men and women who are incarcerated, Kairos Outside ministers to those that have loved ones in prison Again, Emmaus modifies to meet the unique needs of a special group of people who need to see the face of Christ It s interesting how much thought and work has gone into these ministries in order to bring this wonderful walk to those who are not in a position to attend a traditional weekend So in addition to different versions of this ministry for different denominations, there are a myriad of versions catering to those who need to see God in their own special way Also, in the Chrysalis Corner you can get information about another version of Chrysalis which is Journey Journey is for young adults, those busy people currently attending college or getting their careers going This is a busy time but again, this ministry adapts in order to provide an opportunity to another group of people to see and feel the love of God These ministries give us the opportunity to get out of the camp and branch out to other areas that also hold these weekends in their own unique way So read about them and support them if you can Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) DeColores Chuck Tackett
P A G E 3 Kairos OUTSIDE/ Inside MCI Have you ever felt lonely, abandoned, and scorned by others, because of something someone very close to you, a family member or dear friend, has done? This is the condition in which many of the women who come to a Kairos Outside weekend are in, when they arrive They suffer living in their own kind of prison, because a male loved one has been incarcerated The Kairos Outside ministry reaches out to these women with the unconditional love of Christ and shows them, through the service of female volunteers, that they are not alone A unique Kairos Outside weekend will be held inside of Marion Correctional Institution on Friday May 17 through Sunday May 19 What is unique about this particular weekend is that (unlike all other Kairos Outside community weekends) it the only one that is actually held INSIDE a prison! Please pray about this ministry of healing, and if you are led, consider the myriad of ways in which you can partner with this ministry Some of the ways to support this ministry are to commit to a time on the prayer-vigil, consider attending the closing (advance paperwork clearance is required), offer gifts of flowers, or financial support Would you like to serve on a team? It s a unique opportunity to witness the work of the Holy Spirit in a whole new way Please help by signing up on the prayer vigil Go to: http://www3dayolorg/vigil/getcommphtml?sortid=3 Look for Marion Correctional Institution Kairos Outside Also, see on the following pages about the history of this Kairos ministry and how to help by purchasing a meal and/or a teddy bear Ron Ambrosia

He is Well Pleased with Us Luke 3: 21-22 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased I can t help noticing that Jesus didn t say, well, father, things are not going exactly well They don t believe I m your son, I now have to spend 40 days in the dessert being tempted by the devil Are you sure you are well pleased with me? He didn t go on to explain that He will continue to be tested and questioned He didn t lament that the miracles he performed will not be good enough to convince the Pharisees He didn t ask Are you sure you are pleased with me? He didn t ask his Father if His ministry was going well? No, he did not He accepted his father s praise and love He did not fret that he was not worthy Jesus accepted the praise from God Can we? I know I don t I often feel I m not good enough, I don t do enough Am I actually the hands and feet of Jesus? Is He well pleased with me? He is I am good enough no matter how many times I fail No matter how many times I don t get the job done, He is well pleased with me And, above all, He loves me When we fail to love ourselves I can t help thinking we are betraying God If we are good enough for Him to love us then we must love ourselves We must be well pleased with ourselves How can we also love our neighbor as we love ourselves Perhaps that s why it s so easy not to love our neighbor We don t love ourselves and we are sure God isn t pleased with us So, He must not be pleased with our neighbor either Yes, we sin, we fail but He loves us and yes, He is well please with us Debra Loucks WRE WW #31, Table of Mary http://wreinetmembercom/default_cmsaspx Check your information and make sure it is correct Emmaus/Chrysalis Mission/Vision Statements Don t forget to check out the online database N ewsletter Information Do you have Emmaus news to send to the community?
