RECOGNITION OF CHOIRS AND DIRECTORS LITANY OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE GIFT OF MUSIC Spirit of the living God, we give you thanks for the gift of music which dances in our hearts and makes our souls overflow. From the first bird which sings in the morning to the last cricket at night, the sounds of your presence surround us. We thank you for the poetic words of faith contained in the songs we sing, the melodies that touch our hearts and the complex harmonies of the diverse human race. Sing: O for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemer s praise, The glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace. God of all creation, today we recognize those who serve you through music. We thank you for their service and commitment to the ministry of music. We give thanks for our directors, who provide musical instruction steeped in the tradition of the church; for our acolytes, choirs and instrumentalists, who fill our worship with Kyries and Alleluias; for our choir parents, who make weekly sacrifices as they support their child s musical journey of Christian faith. Choirs: We thank you for the opportunity to express our love for you and for one another through the mystery of your constant rhythm. May we never be hesitant to raise our voices and instruments in praise of God. Sing: O for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemer s praise, The glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace.
