More folks have come to this mission than any in the past by offering it in English and Spanish, we have run out of room for half of our group, which is a wonderful dilemma to have! I have come to find out that one of our mission helpers is a distant relative of mine from the Italian side of my family and many in our group who came to our 7:30 a.m. session did not leave last night until just before 10:00 p.m.! By the time I wound down with our mission group and soaked my weary knees, I finally retired at 12:30 a.m., getting myself ready for another long (happy) day and the 7:30 a.m. Mass! Pictured here is our retreat team (left to right): Fr. Diego Maximino, MIC (our leader for the Spanish Mission), Anna Nuzzo (our special cantor for the mission), the ugly mug of a pastor in the background, Fr. Bill Hayward (our leader for the English Mission), his assistant Judy Adamowicz (who gave a wonderful presentation of her mission work in Africa last night and I am told will offer a heartfelt testimonial on reconciliation tonight) and a Marian priest named Fr. Angelo Casimiro, MIC, who will join us for confessions tonight. The mission concludes on Wednesday night with a special bilingual liturgy and dual homilies with our separate groups you are most welcome to join us the next two nights! Following the Divine Mercy Mission on February 18-22, Karen Hatfield will be leading a, led in video presentations by another 1
Marian priest, Fr. Michael Gaitley. This mission will run on consecutive Mondays during Lent, advertised in the following way: Discover and experience holiness as the Merciful Love of Jesus poured into your heart. Discover how to live Saint Teresa s Little Way and that God desires holiness for you. Join us for a six-week Divine Mercy retreat based on the book 33 Days to Merciful Love by Fr. Michael Gaitley from the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. The format of the retreat is simple: The participants will read a short passage from the book 33 Days to Merciful Love and answer several questions in their workbooks daily, on their own. Then the group meets weekly to watch a talk by Fr. Michael on DVD, and break into small groups for discussion. In just fifteen minutes a day, you can grow in Jesus love, If you have to miss a session, just keep up with the readings and join back up with the group. A $15 fee covers the cost of books and materials. Call Karen at (815) 207-1361 to register. As stated last week,, which takes place on Saturday, March 4 th starting with the 4:00 Mass, followed by the Irish Dinner in the gym from 4:00 8:00 p.m. As with last year, our Corned Beef Sandwich Dinner costs $10, our Corned Beef Platter runs $13 (which includes soda bread and dessert) and our Irish Stew Dinner runs $15 (also including soda bread and dessert). The entertainment for the evening includes on the bagpipes (at Mass and at the dinner), the and Irish Music by the local folk group. Rather than attaching the Bulletins, Homilies and Newsletters as I have done in the past, I think it best to just send them as links from our www.stpatsjoliet.com website so that the files I am sending out are not so large. This way, those with limited sized inboxes will not have a problem getting these communications. Thanks for understanding!
