This Week at BRPC March 8, 2018 Building Relationships with People in Christ In the midst of our Lenten journey, we paused this week for a Vesper Service of Healing with anointing. Thanks to Grace Cox- Johnson and the Chancel Choir! Dear BRPC Family, I ve always thought that the Catholic Church shoots itself in the foot with clerical celibacy. While I respect the idea of priests dedicating their lives to serving God (and not wanting to dilute their attentions with family concerns), I wonder if the current priest shortage is significantly impacted by the policy of clerical celibacy. After all, how many people follow in their father s (or mother s) footsteps with their vocational choices? How many pastors have followed in their parent s footsteps? Of course I eventually! did. Across the gospel of John, Jesus refers to God as my Father. It s a label the church needs to unpack, because for too many, the Father relationship has been one of pain. But in this gospel, it speaks to the intimate connection between God and Christ a connection that is offered to us. Peace and grace, Pastor Pat Sermon The Father and the Son Scripture John 5: 15-24 John 14: 1-14
