Dear Friends in Christ Last Sunday was a great day as 87 parishioners gathered at St. Paul s to celebrate Zakhary s Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Mother s Day! This Sunday is part of what many Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans traditionally call the May 24 th weekend when thousands of people head out to the great outdoors. I trust that everyone will enjoy quality time with family and friends while being cognizant of safety for yourself and others. Spring is certainly in the air!! I am writing this message in the morning and it s 11degrees and climbing. We will have lots of ups and downs with our weather before summer breaks but we are on our way!! However as we look out our windows and around our yards, - it s time to start the post winter cleanup!! On that note, I encourage all of us to visit our cemeteries to see what spring-cleaning needs to happen. It is always helpful if we pick up and rake up before the grass and flowers start sprouting!! If every family with a loved one buried at St. Matthews and Presentation could set aside one hour with a rake and a garbage bag, our cemeteries could be very clean & tidy a wonderful tribute to those buried there!! Please take your garbage home as the Cemetery Committee cleaned up the back last summer and are preparing it for future burial plots. Please do not leave old garbage at the back of the cemeteries. Everyone doing their small part will make a big difference!! Mark your Calendar!! Next Sunday May 27 the Liturgical Dancers are coming to St. Paul s!! Please spread the word and come along to celebrate their gift of dance, which they freely share with St. Paul s. Each time they have visited has proven to be a joy and blessing to adults and children alike. Seeing them communicate the Gospel Message in dance has proven to be very powerful. Your Friend in Christ Rev. Sandra

When God of Old Came Down from Heaven When God of old came down from heaven, in power and wrath he came; Before his feet the clouds were riven, half darkness and half flame. But, when he came the second time, he came in power and love; Softer than gale at morning prime hovered his holy Dove. The fires, that rushed on Sinai down in sudden torrents dread. Now gently light, a glorious crown, on every sainted head. And as on Israel s awe-struck ear the voice exceeding loud, The trump that angels quake to hear, thrilled from the deep, dark cloud; So, when the Sprit of our God came down his flock to find, A voice from heaven was heard abroad, a rushing, mighty wind. It fills the Church of God; if fills the sinful world around; Only in stubborn hearts and wills no place for it is found. Come Lord, come Wisdom, Love, and Power, open our ears to hear; Let us not miss the accepted hour; save, Lord, by love or fear. Prayer over the Gifts: Giver of life, receive all we offer you this day. Let the Spirit you bestow on your Church continue to work in the world through the hearts of all who believe. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Eucharistic Prayer # 2 Page 196 The Lord s Prayer Page 211 Breaking of Bread # 2 Page 212 Communion Hymns 655, 649
