1. Yoga Session and Inspirational speech As part of the celebrations of the International Yoga Day, a Yoga and Pranayam session was organized at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur on June 21, 2015 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM for the students, faculty and staff members of the Institute. The session was conducted by Dr Raju Bandewar from Patanjali Yoga Haridwar. During the session organized at the Children s Park of MNIT Jaipur, Dr Bandewar demonstrated the techniques and benefits of performing different asanas to the participants. These included intonation of Om and Gayatri Mantra, and practice of Panchamudra. Dr Bandewar also demonstrated seven types of Pranayam (Bhastrika, Kapalbhati, Agnisar, Anulom Vilom, Ujjayi, Udrit and Dhyana) and eight types of asanas to the participants. This was followed by a session on the importance and benefits of practicing Rajayoga. This session was conducted by Brahmakumari Jayanti Bahen from Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishvavidyalaya, Bapu Nagar, during which she demonstrated the method of practicing Rajayoga and self-introspection to attain inner peace and happiness. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sushant Upadhyaya and approximately 450 participants including students, faculty and staff members of the Institute enthusiastically took part in the programme. 2. Panel Discussion on the Importance of Yoga A Panel Discussion was organized in the Institute to discuss about the relevance of Yoga in modern era. The honorable panelists who shared their views on the theme were as under: 1. Shri Om Prakash Sharma, A retired Joint Director (RSEB), A Yogacharya and Joint Secretary in Rajasthan Swasthya Yog Parishad spoke about the physical well being by adopting yoga techniques. 2. Shri Gaurmandal Das, A full time dedicated missionary and member of Hare Krishna Movement explained the spiritual aspect of Yoga and by quoting the examples from Bhagwat Geeta and other Indian scriptures told us about the mechanism of following Yoga practices and its relevance. 3 Brahma Kumari Sister Sushma, A Devotee and Incharge of Brahma Kumaris Mission of Jaipur Chapter and a senior faculty at Mt. Abu HQ of the Brahma Kumaris she in a very simple and concrete way explained to get the happiness of mind and body by yogic exercises in the form of meditation.she also took a practical session. A large gathering including faculty, staff and students witnessed the event and experienced the wisdom of the learned speakers got the meaning of Yoga and essence of yoga practices along with the method to be adopted to effectively implement it in their lives. The house was left open for the interaction with the speakers and there was a very fruitful two way communication during this period. Due to the enthusiastic participation of the audience and the valuable information shared by the learned speakers, the duration of the event was exceeded by more than two hours. 3. Pictorial Exhibition on Yoga One day Pictorial-exhibition was organized by the students of the PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB, MNIT, Jaipur in the Department of Architecture under the guidance of Ar. Pooja Nigam. The event exhibited 55 pictures and 15 quotes portraying the importance of Yoga and was the eye-opener for the students as well as the visitors. A team of around 20 students from different streams volunteered and participated with enthusiasm and made it a success. 12

4. Display of Books on Yoga A Book Exhibition has been organized by the Central Library of the Institute. The exhibition will continue for next two weeks. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Director, Professor I. K. Bhat, Dean Students Welfare, Coordinator Library, Professors, Staff and students were also present on this event. Librarian Dr. Deep Singh welcomed all the guests and visitors. In the exhibition, about 200 books published by eminent publishers have been displayed in the Central Hall of the Library. The books are on different aspects of Yoga and its benefits in day to day life. Books on role Yoga in curing various diseases and physical problems have also been displayed. Beside these books on different Aasana, Yogic Kriyaas, Meditation, Scientific method of Yoga etc have also been displayed. Director, Prof. Bhat showed his interest in many books especially on physical and mental health through Yoga. He has suggested some more books on Yoga. Visitors are also going through the books displayed. 14

5. Felicitation of participants and Screening a documentary Yoga provided by AYUSH On 21 st June 2015, First International Yoga Day was celebrated in Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. Various events, exhibitions had been organized followed by the felicitation programme of the day in the evening. The felicitation programme starts with the screening of a documentary based on the significance of yoga. The movie presents the brief history of the origin of yoga and show the growing interest of world in this ancient tradition of India. It also presents how different institutes in India as well as in world are trying to connect yoga with the scientific facts. The movie explains about different kinds of yoga and how these are beneficial for the holistic development of human being. The chief guest of the programme was Mr. Virender Poonia- recipient of Dronacharya Award. He speaks about the importance of sports in the life of students and he emphasises on the fact that every children in India should be connected to sports along with studies. It is an essential requirement for the overall development of the body and mind. The guest of honour of the day was Prof. I. K. Bhat- Director, MNIT,Jaipur. He talks about the infusion of positivity in the mind of students and how yoga is beneficial in keeping the mind and body relax. He gives stress on the fact that flow of positive thoughts enhances the ability and efficiency of brain and thus enables the students in achieving their desired goals. In the end, vote of thanks to all the co-ordinators and organisers was given by Dr. Dilip Sharma- Dean Student Welfare, MNIT Jaipur. 18
