It s the event we have all been waiting for! October 8 will be a Welcoming Event for our new Pastor/Head of Staff, the Reverend Dr. Nancy Birdsong! It will be a casual event taking place right after the scheduled service in the Narthex, extending to the outside depending on the weather. We are also encouraging members to look for the "Pictures for Nancy" sign that will be near the Welcome Center. Linda Wiggers and Pat Elliot have graciously volunteered their skills to take casual pictures of you and/or your family so that Nancy can learn who you are more quickly. Pictures will also be used for an updated church directory. There will not be a cost to our members for these pictures. How they will be distributed will be communicated after the directory is completed. Please plan on attending! We don't want anyone to miss out on this opportunity to welcome Nancy! What can you do to help Nancy join our family? Share what you know and love about our community with her. Example: Best area doctor, best restaurants, best local places to visit, parks, best electrician, painter, furnace person, etc. We would like to provide Nancy a list of our members best connections that will help her set up her new home with confidence while getting to know our city! There will be a box next to the "Pictures for Nancy" where you can put your treasured contacts. If you want to think on this, feel free to bring your note with you to church to drop it in. HELP WANTED The church needs someone for Sunday morning duty. We are not asking you to give up your time to worship. But rather we are asking if you might know someone who does not worship on Sunday mornings and would like to earn some money. Hours for this position are approximately 8 AM to 1 PM. Duties include opening doors, turning on lights, setting the heat or air conditioning, monitoring the lower level doors during worship and then securing and locking up after services. This job is not difficult and could be done by anyone from college age to senior citizen as long as they are trustworthy and reliable. Please direct all inquiries to Marj Lawson of the Personnel Team. OFFICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Currently requesting office help to greet members and guests, answer phones, do light office work, and support staff with projects. Currently seeking the following afternoon shifts: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Email Lynn or call the church office if you would like to join our office team! INFORMATION OF INTEREST SUNDAY IS WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY! Christians around the globe break bread together around the Table of our Lord, reminding us that we do not worship only as a congregation, but are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. Participating Sunday in worship leadership are Southminster members from the worldwide community of Christ. The skirt on the Communion Table was made in Cameroon, and is a gift of the Bolinji family.
