Obituary Gnomes, was born in Blythe, Georgia on August 6, 1921, to the late Clara N. Thurmond. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour at an early age, when she became a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She served diligently on the Usher Board. In later years, she moved her membership to First Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health failed. Mary Lee retired from the Richmond County Board of Education after 21 years of service. She had two children, Emma L. Thomas and Mr. Frank Thomas, to precede her in death. Also one brother, Isiah Johnson, preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put the interest of others first. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: six sons, Mr. George (Annie) Thomas, Mr. Louis Thomas, Mr. Berry (Brenda) Thomas, Mr. Robert Thomas and Mr. Victor Thomas, all of Hephzibah, GA, and Mr. Henry Thomas, Augusta, GA; six daughters, Ms. Helen Patterson, Wichita, KS; Mrs. Myrtis (Henry) Crawford and Ms. Jacqueline Thomas, Augusta, GA; Ms. Irene Harris, Mrs. Marie (O Neal) Brunson and Mrs. Vickie (Terre) Polite, of Hephzibah, GA; thirty-six grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. * * * * Your loving hands have shaped the firm foundation on which we stand. We re so thankful that you are our mother. We love you and we will miss you dearly. Your Children
