CAST IN ALL YOUR LIVING Learning, Living and Loving the Scriptures Through Acts of Service
CAST IN ALL YOUR LIVING To encourage sisters to engage in acts of service by drawing on their own personal abilities, talents, and skills while acknowledging their own personal challenges, constraints and experience and avoiding comparison to the offerings of those with whom them serve. Mark 12: 42 44 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. D & C 1:23 23 That the fulness of my gospel might be proclaimed by the weak and the simple unto the ends of the world, and before kings and rulers. Matthew 25:23 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. D&C 76:5-6 5 For thus saith the Lord I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end. 6 Great shall be their reward and eternal shall be their glory. AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD To encourage the sister to plan acts of service which will include their family members and help them learn of the joy they can experience as they extend themselves in service to others. Joshua 24:15 15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Galatians 5: 13 13...but by love serve one another. D&C 31:5 5 Therefore, thrust in your sickle with all your soul, and your sins are forgiven you, and you shall be laden with sheaves upon your back, for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Wherefore, your family shall live. 1 Nephi 8:12 12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit. SERVE HIM DAY AND NIGHT IN HIS TEMPLE To encourage the sister to realize the blessings of knowing, loving and serving their ancestors through serving in the temple. Revelations 7:15 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. Malachai 4:5-6 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. D&C 128:5 5 You may think this order of things to be very particular; but let me tell you that it is only to answer the will of God, by conforming to the ordinance and preparation that the Lord ordained and prepared before the foundation of the world, for the salvation of the dead who should die without a knowledge of the gospel. Alma 40:23 25 23 The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame. 24 And now, my son, this is the restoration of which has been spoken by the mouths of the prophets 25 And then shall the righteous shine forth in the kingdom of God. FEED MY SHEEP To encourage sisters to serve others by sharing the joys of the Gospel through missionary service to newly baptized and less active members of the Church and those who have not yet heard the message of the Gospel John 21:15-17 15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Alma 31:34-35 34 O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ. 35 Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee D&C 18:15 15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father! 2 Timothy 1:7-8 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord. THOSE WHO DESIRE TO SERVE GOD ARE CALLED To encourage the sisters to know of their divine calling to serve one another with all their heart, might, mind and strength and to fulfill this calling in their every day actions. D&C 4:3 3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work. Moroni 7:46-47 46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail 47 But charity is the pure bove of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. D&C 52:40 40 And remember in all things the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted, for he that doeth not these things, the same is not my disciple. Mosiah 2:17 17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
