FREEDOM FROM CURSES (Part 3) Sylvester Onyemalechi THE CURSE OF SOWING AND REAPING Gen 8:22 22 "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." Gal 6:7 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. There is a curse of sowing and reaping. No matter how much God loves you, until that curse is broken, it stays on. Sowing and reaping is not only about money, it covers all that we say and do. Eph 6:8 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. Obad 15 15 "The day of the LORD is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head. Luke 6:31 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:37-38 37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Eccl 10:8-9 Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. 9 Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them; whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.

Every word is a seed and you will harvest its fruits into your life. Prov 18:20-21 20 From the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Every act is a seed and you will reap its fruits. Money you give to God, his servants, the needy and parents are seeds that will bring forth fruit in your life. Negative seeds will produce negative harvests, and positive acts will produce positive harvests. Financial seeds will bring back financial harvests. Seeds of favor and kindness will bring back favors, open doors and create opportunities for you. Love sown will provoke love towards you. Hate sown will provoke hate towards you. Division sown into another person s marriage or organization will provoke division into your own home and organization some day. Many today are not enjoying their marriage because before they got married, they took possession of another man s wife or another woman s husband. Rebellion provokes rebellion. Submission will provoke submission. If you obey authority, you will be obeyed when you are in authority. Those under and below you will only submit to and obey you as long as you are in submission and obedience. A man reaps what he sows. If you gossip and run another person down, God will appoint another person to run you down and this may create hate and dislike for you in your family, at work, before your inlaws and at school. If any of these is happening to you right now, just know that you are dealing with the curse of sowing and reaping. Attempting to break the curse without genuinely repenting will be a waste of time. I have checked through scriptures and I have come to the conclusion that there s no one that got caught in the curse of sowing and reaping that didn t pay for it. The curse of sowing and reaping is a self inflicted curse. Gen. 8:21-22 teaches us that God made up his mind not to judge and punish man together, but individually. God decided to deal with each man according to his words and dealings (actions, lifestyle). Gen 8:21-22 21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. 22 "As long

as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." Gal 6:5-10 5 for each one should carry his own load. 6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Jer 32:19 19 great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; you reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve. EXAMPLES: 1. David - Committed adultery with Beersheba killed Uriah the husband by sending him to the hottest line in the war front. Absalom his son chased him away and took his throne, and slept with ten of his concubines on the roof top before all Israel. (2 Sam. 11; 16:22) 2. Ahithophel - David s adviser decamped and joined Absalom in his rebellion. Because he rebelled against King David his master, God caused Absalom to rebel against his counsel. For the first time, someone rejected Ahithophel s counsel. He couldn t stand it, as result, he committed suicide. (Sam 17:23) 3. Haman - (Esther 7:10) died by the same gallows she prepared for Mordecai. 4. Paul Was a persecutor who became persecuted after his conversion. (Acts. 9:16) 5. Jacob - Trickster who was also tricked by Laban his father-in-law and uncle, who gave him the older daughter instead of the younger as agreed, and later changed his wages ten times. (Gen. 31:7) Before Jacob was born, God had already chosen him. The elder (Esaw) shall serve the younger, God said (Gen. 25:23). So Jacob does not need to cheat to see that come to pass. It was his mother that organized the cheating, and he accepted. So he in turn was cheated for twenty years. Gen 31:38-42 38 "I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten rams from your flocks. 39 I did not bring you animals torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for whatever was stolen by day or night. 40 This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes. 41 It was like this for

the twenty years I was in your household. I worked for you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks, and you changed my wages ten times. 42 If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands, and last night he rebuked you." He suffered so much; he had to run away from Laban s house in order to escape not knowing what other trick the man may play on him again in order to retain his services. That s why when he met with the angel he said, I won t let you go until you bless me (Gen. 32:26). He was tired of cheating and being cheated. He wanted it to end. The curse of sowing and reaping must be broken. He held on to God that night. So the angel changed his name from Jacob (trickster) to Israel (Prince with God) to deliver him from that curse of sowing and reaping. Immediately this was done, he let him go knowing that the curse is over and the battle won. No Christian can be smart enough today to escape it, without dealing with it in total repentance. If you are involved in planning someone s death, you won t escape death. If you dig a pit for any man, you will fall into it. If you roll a stone to crush any man, it will return back upon you. Eccl 10:8 Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. Prov 26:27 27 If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him. When it comes to the operation of both the curse and the blessing of sowing and reaping, God will not sleep. Why? To ensure that you don t reap what you did not sow and that you reap what you have sown. Est 6:1-2 6:1 That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. 2 It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. Please read the entire chapter to get the whole story. What you are experiencing in your marriage today might be as a result of your previous acts in other people s marriage. Every business you have joined in pulling down might

be responsible for what is happening in your own business now. I don t know, but you know better. All that I know is that While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest...shall not cease. Ps 121:4 Prov 26:27 7 If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him. You can t curse whom God has not cursed. When you attempt to curse someone God has not cursed, the curse comes back on you. Num 23:8 8 How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the LORD has not denounced? To free yourself from the curse of sowing and reaping, repent of all bad seeds sown. Break the hold of every curse of sowing and reaping by the blood of Jesus. And determine to sow good seeds from now on. THE CURSE OF BITTERNESS 1. Bitterness establishes self-afflicted curses. Every time your countenance falls because your neighbor is lifted, there is death at the door. Someone is favored of God and your countenance falls, someone is promoted of God and your countenance falls. That s sin. You don t need the spirit of competition - I must overtake him, I must be higher than him. No, you don t need that. Bitterness is envy degenerated to anger, and anger degenerated to bitterness. (Bishop Oyedepo). Gen 4:2-12 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." 8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?" 10 The LORD said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth."

When you allow envy to degenerate to anger, it goes on to bitterness and bitterness brings you under this curse. You work and work and nothing works. You are under the curse of bitterness. If there is nothing you do that works, you are a captive of bitterness. Your earth is cursed and is not allowed to bring forth her increase. Job 5:2 2 Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple. Prov 14:30 30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. James 3:16 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Heb 12:14-15 14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Bitterness is a state of the mind caused by envy, hate, remorse, or disappointment. Bitterness is a plague. May God deliver you from it today; so you can be free from its attendant curses. The curse of bitterness transcends generations. Because the ground of the bitter person is cursed, there is nothing left for the children to inherit. And his children will have nothing to leave for their children. So right down the line, the curse is passed down from generation to generation. For you to hear or see that God is blessing a fellow brother or sister and you begin to run him or her down with stories that have no basis, that s anger; and an excuse for your inadequacies and frustrations. Anybody against success never succeeds. Be warned. 2. Unforgiveness delivers people to the tormentors. Matt 18:21-35 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. 23 "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement,

a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 "The servant fell on his knees before him. `Be patient with me,' he begged, `and I will pay back everything.' 27 The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. 28 "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. `Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. 29 "His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, `Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' 30 "But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened. 32 "Then the master called the servant in. `You wicked servant,' he said, `I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34 In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. 35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart." Matt 6:12-15 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Ps 66:18 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; 1 John 3:15 15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. Eternal life is the only thing that lift the curse that is upon man; and if the one who hates his brother has no eternal life abiding in him, then he is doomed for destruction. One of the immediate consequences of bitterness is sickness because bitterness crushes one s spirit causing your countenance to fall. Prov 18:14 14 A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear? The curse of bitterness makes life choking. It makes life unfruitful. So loose that man or woman and let him or her go, otherwise you remain in chains for life,

1 John 4:18 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 3:14-15 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. Release yourself from the torment of hate, anger and bitterness. Every hater is under a curse, and is bound to suffer torments. Bitterness brings a lot of health problems - mental and bodily affliction and unproductivity etc. Bitterness is an enemy of progress. It s a secret destroyer. A very silent one. You don t hear its footsteps as it approaches to do its evil work of destruction. It just creeps in and begins to destroy. It causes havoc. It is deadly. Run from it. (To be continued) SUCCESS TIT-BITS 1. The wise are they who listen to advice and accept correction and rebuke meekly. Can you consider yourself to be wise? 2. Remaining as you are year after year is self-deceit and counterproductive. Resisting rebuke, correction and change is resisting God and progress. 3. Before a blessing reaches your hand, there is always a fight. Watch out and do not lose this fight so you do not miss the blessing. 4. Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit will bring you to the place of abundance. 5. Don't kill the dream - Execute it! 6. Don't play with that idea running through your mind it may be what God will use to change your world. 7. Procrastination is the thief of time. It is an enemy of progress. Kill it, before it kills your opportunity to make it. 8. Always act now! 9. Success is not by chance but by choice. 10. Tithing secures open heavens, and open heavens guarantees rain. 11. As rain is for fruitfulness so are ideas. 12. Every great achievement started as an idea. Every invention is a manifestation of an idea. 13. What the mind of man can conceive, it can achieve. 14. There is more hope for the open- minded than for the narrow minded. 15. Wisdom is for those who seek it. 16. You can if you believe you can. 17. Nothing is impossible for him that believes.

18. Faith is the antidote for failure. 19. Courage always overpowers discouragement. Have courage and challenge every challenge. And victory will be yours. 20. Confidence gives strength. Fear destroys and weakens. 21. Greatness is the heritage of the sons of God. 22. Hope never fails. It is a burden lifter, and an antidote to discouragement. 23. Money answers to good ideas. WISDOM FOR ASSOCIATION 1. There are four kinds of people in your life: those who add, subtract, divide, or multiply. Every relationship will affect you for good or bad. 2. Goals and dreams last longer than rejection. Be willing to endure anything from people in the pursuit of your goals. But don t give in to rejection. 3. Treat people right for you don t know tomorrow. 4. Nobody is ever as they first appear. 5. Reward those who help you succeed. 7. Your family is your first and most important school of relationship. 8. Your friends contribute to the formation of your character. 9. Friends are influence - Positive or negative. 10. Have the sense to move with sensible people. 11. Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Cor. 15:33). 12. He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm (Prov. 13:20). 13. The lips of the wise spread knowledge not to the hearts of fools (Prov. 15:7). RENEWING THE MIND 1. Holiness is possible if you will think holy thoughts. 2. Those who live according to the sinful nature do so because they set their minds (think thoughts) on what that nature desires. (Rom. 8:5) Those who live in the spirit do so because they set their minds on the things that gratify the Holy Spirit. 3. You are unholy and sinful because you entertain unholy and sinful thoughts. 4. You are what you are what you think. 5. You are filled with bitterness because you think angry and bitter thoughts. 6. Happiness, joy, sorrow, pain and sadness are moods influenced and determined by your thoughts 8. Your habits and character are all reflections of your thoughts.

9. Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. 10. Think right to live right. Think holy to be Holy. Think love to be a lover. Think mercy to be merciful. Think positive to live a positive life. You are what you think. 11. Thoughts fire you on and open you up to all kinds of spirits and experiences. Watch your thoughts closely.
