Go quickly, lest he overtake us quickly and bring down ruin on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword. 15 And the king's servants said to the king, Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king decides. 16 So the king went out, and all his household after him. And the king left ten concubines to keep the house. 17 And the king went out, and all the people after him. And they halted at the last house. 23 And all the land wept aloud as all the people passed by, and the king crossed the brook Kidron, and all the people passed on toward the wilderness. 30 But David went up the ascent of the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, barefoot and with his head covered. And all the people who were with him covered their heads, and they went up, weeping as they went. 31 And it was told David, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness. WE ACKNOWLEDGE GOD S PRESENCE IN OUR MIDST
WE SING PRAISES TO GOD O Church Arise O church arise and put your armor on Hear the call of Christ our Captain For now the weak can say that they are strong In the strength that God has given With shield of faith and belt of truth We'll stand against the devil's lies An army bold whose battle cry is Love Reaching out to those in darkness Our call to war to love the captive soul But to rage against the captor And with the sword that makes the wounded whole We will fight with faith and valor When faced with trials on every side We know the outcome is secure And Christ will have the prize for which He died An inheritance of nations Come see the cross where love and mercy meet As the Son of God is stricken Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet For the Conqueror has risen And as the stone is rolled away And Christ emerges from the grave This victory march continues till the day Every eye and heart shall see Him 2X So Spirit come put strength in every stride Give grace for every hurdle That we may run with faith to win the prize Of a servant good and faithful As saints of old still line the way Retelling triumphs of His grace We hear their calls and hunger for the day When with Christ we stand in glory Keith Getty & Stuart Townend 2005 Thankyou Music CCLI Song # 4611992 -- CCLI License # 237793
WE SING A SONG OF ASCENT Thou Lovely Source of True Delight Thou lovely source of true delight Whom I unseen adore Unveil thy beauties to my sight That I might love Thee more Oh that I might love Thee more Thy glory o'er creation shines But in Thy sacred Word I read in fairer brighter lines My bleeding dying Lord See my bleeding dying Lord 'Tis here whene'er my comforts droop And sin and sorrow rise Thy love with cheering beams of hope My fainting heart supplies My fainting heart supplies But ah too soon the pleasing scene Is clouded o'er with pain My gloomy fears rise dark between And I again complain Oh and I again complain Jesus my Lord my life my light Oh come with blissful ray Break radiant through the shades of night And chase my fears away Won't You chase my fears away Then shall my soul with rapture trace The wonders of Thy love But the full glories of Thy face Are only known above They are only known above Anne Steele & Kevin Twit 1999 Kevin Twit CCLI Song # 3112038 -- CCLI License # 237793
SHEPHERDING PRAYER Rich Albert, Ruling Elder SCRIPTURE READING 2 Samuel 16:5 12 When King David came to Bahurim, there came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera, and as he came he cursed continually. 6 And he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 7 And Shimei said as he cursed, Get out, get out, you man of blood, you worthless man! 8 The LORD has avenged on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned, and the LORD has given the kingdom into the hand of your son Absalom. See, your evil is on you, for you are a man of blood. 9 Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and take off his head. 10 But the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? If he is cursing because the LORD has said to him, Curse David, who then shall say, Why have you done so? 11 And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my own son seeks my life; how much more now may this Benjaminite! Leave him alone, and let him curse, for the LORD has told him to. 12 It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing today. WE SING A SONG OF ASSURANCE How Deep the Father's Love for Us How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure; How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away, As wounds which mar the Chosen One, Bring many sons to glory. Behold the Man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders, Ashamed I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers; It was my sin that held Him there, Until it was accomplished, His dying breath has brought me life, I know that it is finished. I will not boast in anything, No gifts, no pow r, no wisdom, But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection! Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer, But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom! Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer, But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom! Stuart Townend 1995 Thankyou Music CCLI Song # 1558110 -- CCLI License # 237793
PREACHING OF THE WORD Gavin Brand, Pastoral Intern Going to God with Our Troubles Psalm 3 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. 3 O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; 2 many are saying of my soul, There is no salvation for him in God. Selah 3 But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4 I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah 5 I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. 7 Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. 8 Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah
