from the Pastor s Desk... My Dear Brothers an Sisters in Christ, 20 + C + M + B + 18 The 2018 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal will take place next weekend in our parish. Please refer to the insert in this week s bulletin which includes our parish s goal and an overview of the importance of Catholic Charities in our communities. This year s appeal theme is Your Mercy: Transforming Lives and Communities. Your generous support will help to transform the lives of others and to offer dignity, possibilities and companionship to those who are most vulnerable. As in the past, an in-pew commitment process will take place next weekend, February 10-11. All who have not received the mailing from Bishop Perez, or have not had a chance to respond to it, will be asked to consider making a generous pledge to support the ministries and services provided by Catholic Charities. If you have received the mailing, please respond generously to it; and we ask you to also complete the in-pew envelope and indicate by checking the box that you have responded by mail. We invite you to view the stories of inspiration and more information at: www.catholiccommunity.org/2018appeal. May God s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE Collection: 1/28/18: $8,207.24 12-wk Avg: $10,375.00 Collection: 1/29/17: $8,841.50 12-wk Avg: $10,051.00 To all of you who support our parish regularly through the use of your contribution envelopes and direct deposits: Thank You!! Father Ireland Parents: Please continue to encourage your children to use their offertory envelopes when they come to church with you each week. It is a very good practice for them to develop. We invite you to consider a very easy way to make regular contributions to your parish. AUTOMATIC GIVING could be the answer. Contact Eileen Gerome any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 216.382.7601. Blessed palm branches from last year will be burned a few days before Ash Wednesday to make the ashes that are distributed to the faithful on Ash Wednesday. The ashes serve as a reminder for us that we are entering into Lent and are called to turn away from sin and repent. Please gather up the palm branches you may have at your homes, bring them to the Church during the week (or no later than next Sunday, February 11), and place them in one of the baskets provided in the back of the Church. Thank you! Next week we will have The Magnificat Lenten Companion booklets available for an offering of $3.00. They will be sold after Masses next Saturday and Sunday. This publication offers reflections on the daily and weekend readings as well as the Stations of the Cross and some prayers and reflections for various occasions. Please stop and pick one up next weekend. As usual, we have only a limited supply available. ATTENTION ATTENTION Next weekend we will reveal the date and type of fundraising activity we will be having this year. We also should be able to reveal the goal of the entire fundraising venture, as well as more info about the event itself. WATCH FOR COMING DETAILS. Enthronement of the Sacred Heart If your family would like an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus enthroned in your home, please call Father Ireland at the Parish Office (216.382.7601) to arrange for him to come to your home and lead this beautiful devotion.
