This church is a thoroughly evangelical church in the historic sense of that word and our basic purposes are to bring people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to build them in the Christian faith and life, and to enlarge missionary participation to the extent that all may come to hear of and believe in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. Friend and stranger, to such a church as this you are welcome. News of the Week ASK US/TELL US/GIVE US GOOD NEWS October 21, 2018 A Word of Thanks! Last Sunday was Pastors Appreciation Day! I was surprised by a special bulletin cover which was kept secret from me until Sunday morning. And you made a special presentation to me during the announcements! Thank you so much for my lovely card and gift- -a gift card to Isaac s. My family and I will enjoy it together. It was a lovely surprise. It has been an honor and continues to be an honor to serve God here at Mount Joy! And may there be many more good times together. Blessings to you! OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD The display for the shoeboxes is in Fellowship Hall! They are available for you to take and fill. Instructions and flyers for the boxes are also on the table. The last day to bring them in is November 11 th. There is also a box available for donations of supplies for the boxes. CONDOLENCES Susan Wise, Karen Paul s sister and Tom Paul s sister-in-law suffered a traumatic brain injury and, after spending many days in the Trauma Neuro Unit at Lancaster General Hospital, went to rest in our Lord on October 17 th. She had many family members attending to her during her hospital stay, and we are actively praying for her here at FPCMJ. Susan was a member at a church in Lancaster and arrangements are to be announced. We pray for Karen, Tom and family at this difficult time. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Nominating Committee has announced the officers slated for election on Sunday, October 28 th, at the Congregational meeting at the end of the worship service.
