Volume 65 Issue 7 BPOE Kingsville Elks Lodge 1926 1404 S. 6th St. Kingsville, Texas 78363 October 2018 Message From Exalted Ruler Sam Fugate New Members Greetings from a fellow Elk. We're in the middle of football season so we have extended hours from 12 to whenever with guest bartender Temo. We had a lot of good things happening at the lodge. Rosie and Ode did a great job on the literacy event we had a great time and handed out lots of books to the kiddies. Bucho's project of handing out backpacks full of essentials to homeless veterans demonstrated one of our principals of charity, Elks truly do care. Pictured above are Lodge Officers with recently initiated members, Albert Lewis (center) and Keven Clarke (center right). Below is Larry Nix (Left) and Mike Desiderio and Sam Fugate, ER. Welcome to our new Members. A group of us attended Homecoming at Ottine and if your an Elk, you need to make the trip, it makes you appreciate our organization and its good work, besides that we had a blast. Nothing wrong with doing good work and having fun. Check your calendar for all our events in October. Come join us at your lodge. Good Regards, Sam Fugate, Exalted Ruler Supporting America s Youth and Veterans

Pg. 4 Elks Round-Up October 2018 Freedom Grant at Work Kingsville Elks Lodge 1926 was recently approved for the Elks National Veteran s Service Commission Freedom Grant. The Freedom Grant is awarded to 300 Lodges to hold projects that serve veterans and activeduty military members. They will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Freedom Grants are competitive and will be awarded to Lodges whose projects are judged to best serve the needs of veterans and/or active-duty military members. Meaningful Elk involvement is required for all projects. Freedom Grants must focus on one of these five areas of increased need: Employment, Homelessness and Housing, Military Families, Health and Educational Support. Lodge Veteran Services Chairman and Rosie Swan, Grant coordinator applied for the grant and chose to do a backpack filled with personal hygiene items, blankets, ponchos and socks. Distribution of backpacks was done with the help of the Homeless committee at the VA Clinic and Kleberg County Veteran s Office. Many thanks to all who helped get the project completed. Those include Bucho Ruiz, Sylvia Martinez, Debra McCreight, Robert McCreight, Darlyn Fugate, Charles, Rosie and Harvey Swan.
