Session 4 3
4 How do you stir the lake?............ Emotions & Feelings Emotion is linked to personal and collective symbols and karma. Emotion is a pattern, a repetitive pattern structured on personal and collective history. Feeling has no personal or collective history. Feeling states are the gift of the Wisdom Heart. There are many flavors of feeling. But, all are infused with three primal qualities: sat/being, chit/awareness, ananda/ bliss As you attune to the feeling state that the mantra reveals your consciousness is freed from personal and collective history. You see your life and Life itself afresh - unencumbered by the patterns of conditioned identity.
5 What are small changes you can make in your daily life that will reduce stirring and support your practice? Food:...... Exercise: Sleep: Work: Other:
The 12 Syllable Mantra 6 Om Namo Bhagavate VasuDevaya This mantra is an attunement to the Sacred Breath - that which is breathing in all Life. Where there is Life - physical, astral, causal - there is the Presence of VasuDeva, the Lord of the Breath. This mantra brings you into the Presence of that primal pulsation that sustains and animates all. On the guided meditation MP3 I chant the mantra with a melody and some additional words. I call this version of the mantra - VasuDeva Sharanam. Sharanam means taking refuge as in I take refuge in the Holy Breath. This taking refuge comes from the realization that the Holy Breath is the healing agent supreme. Another word is Hare - which refers to the indwelling Presence. Chanting Hare signifies that the Holy Breath is not out there but within. The chant goes like this (chords include): Em B7 Em B7 Om Namo Bhagavatay Vasu Devaya Em B7 Em B7 Om Hare Hare Am Em Vasudeva Sharanam Am B7 Vasudeva Hare
7 Call on VasuDeva 1. Assume meditative posture - with purpose. I am sitting down to make contact with VasuDeva - the Lord of the Living Breath. 2. Perform Resurrection Breath. Inhale through nose then turn head to left and sharply exhale all the breath over your left shoulder. Feel that you are releasing all the accumulated momentum, pressure, preoccupations and as your head returns to center - you enter the meditative ritual. 3. Find center of gravity. 4. Lift awareness to the Sun Center at root of nose between the eyebrows. Breathe there for a few seconds and be aware of the purpose of the ritual you are about to perform. 5. Chant the mantra. Remain at the Sun Center but feel the mantra infusing your spine with awareness. 6. Lift through the central channel - up through the body, out the top of the head, up through the roof, clouds, up into the high place... where you can rest in complete freedom. 7. Gently call the mantra... Call VasuDeva... Call VasuDeva. 8. Be still and feel the Presence of the Holy Breath. Commune with that Presence. Bathe in the Feeling State. 9. When you are ready, bring that Blessing down into your body and mind. Suffuse every cell of the body and every petal of the mind with that Feeling State. 10. Send forth your Blessing - to all beings, to those you love, to those unknown, to all who struggle... 11. Be still for a few seconds. 12. Return to the Earth plane and bring forth the Feeling State in your daily life.
