Monthly Mission in Motion for April: REACH OUT & READ of MB Reach Out and Read prepares our youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together and are in need of books for children from birth to age 5 years. The children are given books at the following age well check visits: 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 24-36 months and 3-5 years If you plan to provide books for April s book drive for the Children of our community, please bring books for children ages 5 years and younger to First UMC and place them in receptacles located at each entrance of the sanctuary. If you prefer you may give a monetary donations and the books may be purchased in bulk for a significant discount. To provide funds to purchase books please make checks payable to First UMC on the note section write Reach Out and Read Myrtle Beach. Stations of the Cross: STARTS TODAY This year we have the opportunity to participate in an interactive worship experience, as a church family, throughout Holy Week. Located in our First UMC Chapel will be an interactive walk through of Jesus final moments. There will be opportunities to participate in different scenes along the road to Gethsemane. Please join us, and invite others, during church hours throughout Holy Week to experience this unique opportunity for our church and community. Bikes for the World We have been tasked by our Bishop to raise bikes and money for Bikes for the World. This organization recycles used bikes to help people in Central America, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean Basin. The bikes will be used by health workers to reach patients, students to get to school and workers to get to work literally transforming their lives! Our district s collection date will be April 30 th at First UMC Myrtle Beach from 2 5 pm. Please start spreading the news and looking for bikes. If you have questions contact Jennifer Hupko at the church. It s time to get signed up for the Salkehatchie mission trip! We will head to Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia, the week of July 22 nd 29 th. Type in the following link to get started https://my.salkehatchie.org/. It is pretty easy to get through the forms, but you will need to be ready to upload your insurance card and a current picture of your youth. Please seriously consider setting aside this week for your youth to be the hands and feet of Christ!!
