A SERVICE OF WORSHIP ON THE LORD S DAY WITH HOLY COMMUNION

Transcription:

The Lord s Day April 1, 2018 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 Prelude Welcome & Visitor Information Opening Music - Choir *Call to Worship Psalm 100:4-5 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. *Hymn of Approach No. 277 Christ the Lord Is Risen Today Prayer of Adoration and Confession Assurance of Pardon Isaiah 1:18 Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. *Affirmation of Faith The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church*, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *When we say holy catholic church, we aren t referring to the Roman Catholic Church, but instead to the true Christian church that exists all over the world in every tongue, tribe, and nation.

*Hymn of Faith Man of sorrows Lamb of God By His own betrayed The sin of man and wrath of God Has been on Jesus laid Silent as He stood accused Beaten mocked and scorned Bowing to the Father's will He took a crown of thorns Man of Sorrows (Ushers come forward on last verse) Prayer of Dedication & Presentation of Our Tithes & Offerings Offertory Oh that rugged cross My salvation Where Your love poured out over me Now my soul cries out Hallelujah Sent of heaven God's own Son To purchase and redeem And reconcile the very ones Who nailed Him to that tree Oh that rugged cross My salvation Where Your love poured out over me Now my soul cries out Hallelujah Christ Is Risen Let no one caught in sin remain Inside the lie of inward shame But fix our eyes upon the cross And run to Him who showed great love And bled for us Freely bled for us Christ is risen from the dead, Trampling over death by death Come awake, come awake Christ is risen from the dead; We are one with Him again Come awake, come awake, Beneath the weight of all our sin You bowed to none but heaven s will No scheme of hell, no scoffer s crown, No burden great can hold You down In strength You reign Forever let Your church proclaim (Continue on next page) Now my debt is paid It is paid in full By the precious blood That my Jesus spilled Now the curse of sin Has no hold on me Whom the Son sets free Oh is free indeed Oh that rugged cross My salvation Where Your love poured out over me Now my soul cries out Hallelujah See the stone is rolled away Behold the empty tomb Hallelujah God be praised He's risen from the grave Oh that rugged cross My salvation Where Your love poured out over me Now my soul cries out Hallelujah Christ is risen from the dead, Trampling over death by death Come awake, come awake Christ is risen from the dead; We are one with Him again Come awake, come awake, O death where is your sting; O hell, where is your victory O church, come stand in the light; The glory of God has defeated the night Singing O death where is your sting; O hell, where is your victory O church, come stand in the light; Our God is not dead; He s alive, He s alive!

Amen. Pastoral Prayer & The Lord s Prayer Our Father, which art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. David Yoran Because He Lives God sent His Son they called Him Jesus; He came to love, heal and forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon; An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives. And then one day I ll cross the river; I ll fight life s final war with pain. And then, as death gives way to victory, I ll see the lights of glory and I ll know He reigns. Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives. *Benediction *Threefold Amen *Postlude *The congregation stands Christ is risen from the dead, Trampling over death by death Come awake, come awake Christ is risen from the dead; We are one with Him again Come awake, come awake,

Why do we worship the way we do at Carolina? That's a great question! Each church is different in it's style, song selection, and order of service. At Carolina Presbyterian Church, our goal is to do everything in worship in a manner that glorifies God and edifies our congregation. Below is our worship philosophy which attempts to capture these key values. As always, please come and talk with any church leader if you have questions about this. We are thrilled to join with you in the worship of our Lord together! Carolina PCA Philosophy of Worship: At Carolina Presbyterian Church, we desire to worship God in a manner that is both glorifying to God and edifying to our congregation. To glorify God, we seek to worship him with excellence, with an attitude of reverence (considering God s holiness) and celebration (considering God s grace), with a Christcentered focus rooted in reformed theology and founded on the word of God. To edify our congregation, we seek to worship God with some stylistic variation that reflects some of the preferences of our multi-generational church and community. We seek to employ these different styles in a way that promotes love and unity within the same worship service. Stay Connected with Carolina! If you would like to receive email communications from Carolina, including prayer requests, schedule updates, and information about churchwide events, please contact the church office to add your email to our distribution list. Church office: office@carolinapca.org or (704)888-4435 You are invited to join us immediately following the morning service for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
