ORDER OF WORSHIP Reign of Christ - Sunday, November 26, 2017 *You are invited to stand, if able. You are encouraged to say the bold print. PRELUDE: A Medley of Hymns Colleen Dearham WELCOME & ANNOUNCMENTS How are you today? We are blessed and highly favoured! LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. (Ecc. 2:13) So we light the Christ Candle CENTERING WORDS: Children of God, thank you for coming today. Thank you for leading us into the presence of our Holy One. Children of God, let us playfully worship together, We are glad to gather to playfully worship, the One who makes us love everyone.

*HYMN: #220 Praise to The Lord, the Almighty LOBEN DEN HERREN 1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, who rules all creation; O my soul, praise him, at all times your health and salvation. Come, all who hear: brothers and sisters draw near, joining in glad adoration. 2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so mightily reigning, keeping us safe at his side, and so gently sustaining. Have you not seen how all you needed has been met by God's gracious ordaining? 3 Praise to the Lord who will prosper our work and defend us; surely his goodness and mercy will daily attend us: ponder anew what the Almighty can do, who out of love will befriend us. 4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that has life and breath come now with praises before him! Let the Amen sound from God's people again: gladly with praise we adore him. A PRAYER FOR THE REIGN OF CHRIST

THE PRAYER OF JESUS (The Lord s Prayer Paraphrase VU, pg. 916) Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver, Source of all that is and that shall be, Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven: The hallowing of your name echo through the universe! The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world! Your heavenly will be done by all created beings! Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth. With the bread we need for today, feed us. In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us. In times of temptation and test, strengthen us. From trials too great to endure, spare us. From the grip of all that is evil, free us. For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and for ever. Amen. HYMN: #345 Come, Children Join to Sing Collier s Kids are invited to gather as the hymn is sung. 1 Come, children, join to sing: Hallelujah! Praise to our Servant King: Hallelujah! Mark Miller GODLY PLAY STORY Amy Crawford A TIME OF WONDER & RESPONSE *HYMN: #273 The King of Love ST COLUMBIA 1 The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine forever. 2 Where streams of living water flow my ransomed soul he leadeth,

and where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth. 3 Perverse and foolish oft I strayed; but yet in love he sought me, and on his shoulder gently laid, and home rejoicing brought me. 4 In death's dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me; thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me. 5 Thou spread'st a table in my sight; thy unction grace bestoweth; and O what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth! 6 And so through all the length of days thy goodness faileth never: Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever! PRESENTATION OF OUR OFFERINGS AND CARE CARDS OFFERTORY MUSIC: A Medley of Hymns Colleen Dearham *SUNG DEDICATION: #540 Grant Us, God, the Grace STUTTGART Grant us, God, the grace of giving, with a spirit large and free, that ourselves and all our living we may offer faithfully.

*OFFERING PRAYER: We do not ask, O God, that through our gifts all will be made perfect. We ask that through our gifts, comfort will be experienced, friendship will blossom, neighbours will be discovered, and those whose names we will never know will find courage and hope. We ask you to bless these gifts and us Sharing One, Amen. A TIME OF SILENCE A LITANY OF LONGING: Holy One, we long for Christ s reign on earth; we will know release from all that keeps us bound. Where we lack freedom, O God, give us the courage to risk change. We long for Christ s reign on earth; the poor and powerless will get a fair deal. Where we lack generosity, O God, encourage us to share. We long for Christ s reign on earth; the vulnerable ones will gain confidence. Where we lack acceptance, O God, open our eyes to see the downtrodden. We long for Christ s reign on earth; those held back and restricted will feel free. When we lack a liberating attitude, O God, enable us to work in fresh ways.

We long for Christ s reign on earth; the faithful will be joyful and active in the community. When we lack involvement, O God, open us up to new initiatives of compassion and community....time of silent reflection *HYMN: #213 Rejoice, the Lord is King DARWALL S 148TH 1 Rejoice the Lord is King! Your risen Lord adore! Rejoice, give thanks and sing and triumph evermore. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice: rejoice; again I say, rejoice! 2 Jesus the Saviour reigns, the God of truth and love; when he had purged our sins, he took his seat above. R 3 God's kingdom cannot fail; Christ rules o'er earth and heaven; the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus given. R 4 Rejoice in glorious hope, for Christ, the judge, shall come to glorify the saints for their eternal home. We soon shall hear the archangel's voice; the trump of God shall sound, rejoice!

*COMMISSIONING: Go from here as those committed to bring Christ s reign closer. We will be a challenge to the powerful; We will be a support to the suffering; We will be a word of hope to the despairing; We will be a beacon of hope to the uncertain; We will be an encouraging presence to the venturesome. We go with confidence in the name of the Creator, Christ and Comforter - Amen! *SENDING CHORUS: Go Now in Peace Go now in peace, never be afraid, God will go with you each N. Price/D. Besig hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know he will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see.
