Merciful and mighty God in three persons, blessed Trinity Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee Who wert and art and evermore shalt be Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee Though the eye made blind by sin thy glory may not see Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee Perfect in power, in love, and purity Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea Holy, holy, holy! I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow In mansions of glory and endless delight I ll ever adore thee heaven so bright I ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow Announcements Blessing & Sending Postlude Worship Team - Doug Bardolph, Angela Buikema, Gregg DeMey, Andy Pasek, Tylyn Taylor, Dan Vlcek THIS WEEK AT ELMHURST CRC Today we begin a new sermon series as we turn our attention to the back-to-school calendar. In keeping with the season, we'll be reminded to "Act Like a Kid." Jesus taught his disciples that receiving the kingdom of God meant receiving it as a child would. When we give our kids presents, they are generally not slowed down by suspicions, cynicism, or the rational part of their minds. Instead, they simply receive and enjoy. Jesus is looking for this kind of receptivity, especially since it turns out the amount of grace we can give can never exceed the amount of grace that we have first received. NEXT WEEK AT ELMHURST CRC Jesus doesn t need much to do his good work! When confronted with the impossible task of feeding a vast crowd that simply showed up to hear him, Jesus disciples were at a loss - both creatively and financially - on what to do with the people. A small boy volunteered his little lunch: five loaves of bread and two fish, which in Jesus hands become more than enough for the day. We are also asked to approach each day like this open handed little boy, to be willing to share small things that might be at our disposal. Who knows what might happen?! You can read John 6:5-15 to prepare for this worship service in which we will welcome new members to our congregation and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. OUR CHURCH FAMILY The Missions Team welcomes Scott and Lisa Neumann to our services today. They are serving with Christian Reformed World Missions at LCC International University in Lithuania. Their mission field is not just Lithuania as many students come from throughout Eastern Europe and the Balkans. We encourage you to meet with them after the service and pray for their safe return back to Lithuania one week from now.

Join us in praying for each other. To send your prayer requests or praises to be included in the email prayer chain, or to receive a daily email of these requests, email prayer@elmhurstcrc.org or call the church office at 630-600-5100. If you would like your prayer request included in the weekly announcements in the worship folder please email Lisa Capozzoli, Director of Care and Community, lisa.capozzoli@elmhurstcrc.org.
