Frazeysburg United Methodist Church Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors. From the Pastor... Paul s letter to the Hebrews is said to be one of the General Letters of encouragement to believers. Early Christians suffered persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. Even today some Christians are being persecuted and even murdered because of their beliefs. Hebrews reminds us that Jesus Christ is the highpoint of God s disclosure of his plan to redeem mankind. Our true citizenship is not in this world but rather in heaven. Hebrews has been called the Fifth Gospel. The Four Gospel s describe Christ s ministry on earth, while Hebrews describes Christ s ministry in heaven at the Father s right hand. The glories of Jesus Christ are shown in this Epistle. We see in Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2) October 2018 Inside this issue: Scheduled to Serve Upcoming Events Attendance & Offering Bulletin Board Thank You Page and Prayer Concerns Outreach Page Dare to Care 2 3 4 5 KICK 8 CUT UP S 9 Hog Roast 10 6 7 Hebrews was written primarily for the Jewish believers who believed in Jesus as the Messiah. Because of persecution, perhaps even from other Jews, they were starting to waiver in their faith. Some thought they had lost everything (the altar, the priests, the sacrifices) by accepting Christ. Hebrews shows them they had only lost the shadow in order to be given the substance (Jesus Christ). The Jewish Christians has started out well but they were faltering. They had not made any progress in their faith, their faith was not deepening they were not going anywhere. The Christian faith is like riding a bicycle; if you don t move forward, if you stop, you begin to fall. Join with me in the month of October as we study some of the wonderful Scripture of Hebrews and what it tells us about Jesus Christ and our relationship with him. Yours in Christ, Pastor Bob

A great time was had by all that participated. The next KICK outing will be on Sunday, October 28 th. Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 16 th when the KICK Kids present their Christmas program

Page 9 CUT UP S~ Pillow Case Ministry The Cut Up s have been working for quite some time on various sewing missions based on the needs of our local community. Through donations of money, fabric, and time, we have been able to sew nearly 100 pillow cases for children in need. Lord willing, we would like to provide a blanket or a pillow case and pillow to the children at the Salvation Army annual Kids Christmas party. The extra pillows from the Christmas party will be utilized for individuals who live at the facility while experiencing hard times. After doing some research, we were able to find pillows costing approximately $4 dollars per pillow. You can become involved by providing a monetary donation to purchase one or more pillows. If you would like to provide a pillow for the children, we will provide you with a card, which you can attach to the pillow case or cases of your choice. We have had the pillow cases on display through the end of September and still have a few left. There will be a jar and cards located beside the pillow cases to make your donation. Feel free to make your donation, fill out the appropriate number of cards, and attach them to the cases of your choice. Please leave the pillow cases here when you are finished. The pillowcases and cards are located on the white table by the church office. Pillow Case Update The pillow fundraiser has run for the last three weeks and we are so happy to report that you sweet folks have purchased 120 pillows! This is so exciting as our goal was 100 pillows for the Salvation Army s Children s Christmas party. Thank you from all these happy children that will be receiving such a wonderful gift. The Cut Up s will also be donating some baby quilts as well, but not in that quantity. Rejoice as we are God s Hands on earth.

Page 10 18 th Annual Hog Roast Saturday, August 25 th was our 18 th Annual Hog Roast! Lots of great food, great fellowship, and amazing entertainment! Thank you to everyone who donated food, money, or time to make this An amazing outreach for our community. In August we donated $500.00 from our Hog Roast to the Frazeysburg Pool, new slide fund.
