for thousands of years, since the beginning of the world, angels and prophets have foretold the coming of the savior of the world! when that child was born 2,000 years ago in israel, the evil king of the land sent out soldiers to find and kill the baby! over 300 prophecies in all, recorded in the books of the old testament, all point to one man, and only one man, being the hero and savior the world has been waiting for. but the virgin girl mary s new husband joseph was warned in a dream to take her and the baby to safety in the land of egypt. the very first prophecy said that this savior, the son of god, would be miraculously born to a virgin girl in the town of bethlehem. one day, this seed of a woman" would crush mankind s enemy, the seed of the serpent." they stayed there until the evil king died, then they returned to israel. when the child was 12, his parents found him in the great temple in jerusalem astonishing the teachers with wisdom far beyond his age. just as the prophets and the angels said, the child was named JESUS, which means god with us." jesus grew to manhood in the town of nazareth and never did anything wrong. he became a carpenter making things new and repairing the broken.

THERE! the is the LAMB OF GOD which takes away the sin of the world! when jesus was about 30, there was another man in the land who had caused quite a stir. this man was JOHN THE BAPTIST. he was like a prophet of old and everyone listened to him --and he told them jesus was the SAVIOR! after john baptized jesus in water, the SPIRIT OF GOD descended on jesus in the form of a dove. immediately, jesus went into the desert, where he fasted for 40 days! the DEVIL met him there. the devil tried to tempt the savior, offering him the world if he would only bow down and worship him. jesus refused. after 40 days, jesus was weak, but angels came and tended him. returning from the desert, jesus began his ministry and called 12 disciples to follow him-- peter, john, james, matthew, andrew, philip, bartholomew, thomas, james, thaddaeus, simon, and judas who would later betray him. and thousands more would seek him out. he would teach them things unheard of in that time and place and even now! love your enemies, do unto others as you would have them do to you, lusting or hating in your heart or mind was the same as committing adultery or murder, and obeying god was more important than obeying man. these teachings gained him many followers and many enemies. the religious elite began plotting his death, failing to see that he was the very savior their scripture had long foretold.

in addition to his astounding teachings, jesus performed many MIRACLES! miracles like-- --making the lame walk pick up your mat and go. --and even raising the dead! lazarus! come out! --giving sight to the blind on one amazing day, he miraculously fed 5,000 people with only a handful of fish and loaves of bread and then he walked on water! another day on the same lake, he ordered a storm to be stilled then he cast a legion of demons out of a man who lived in the tombs and who had the strength to break chains! it is i. do not be afraid. and these were just a few of the miracles jesus performed.

when john the baptist was killed, jesus knew his time on earth was short. after one last supper with his disciples, he went to the garden of gethsemane to pray. returning to his friends, he found the disciples sleeping, all but judas who had agreed to betray jesus for 30 pieces of silver. he had returned followed by soldiers. there, he prayed for his followers, for all those who would become believers, and for himself. he prayed so intensely, his sweat was as drops of blood! jesus knew the pain and suffering that were coming, but, even so, he prayed to god his father-- your will not mine be done. betrayest thou the son of man with a kiss, judas? that very night, jesus was illegally tried by the religious elite judged by rulers what is truth? Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of the living God! they demanded. Matthew 26:63 Yes, it is as you say. he answered truthfully. Matthew 26:64 and they accused him of blasphemy. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the father except by me. John 14:6 beaten and whipped by soldiers sentenced to death on a cross rejected by the people and abandoned by his friends.

he carried his cross to golgotha, the place of the skull. there, they nailed him to the cross and raised him up high. after a few hours, an unnatural darkness covered the land. the teachers of the law hurled insults at him. soldiers gambled for his garments and gave him vinegar to drink. and jesus prayed forgive them, father, for they know not what they do. two thieves were also crucified on either side of him. one mocked him, while the other believed and was saved. and jesus mother and closest disciples stood nearby. it is finished! and then jesus died.

and many holy people who had died were raised to life and came out of their tombs and appeared to many! at the moment of jesus' death, there was a mighty earthquake! the veil of the temple, which was said to separate man from the presence of god, split in two. jesus himself was buried in a rich man's tomb, and his disciples mourned and despaired for three days. but on the third day his tomb was empty! the risen jesus told his disciples to wait for him on the mount of olives, where he later joined them. after giving them final instructions, he rose up into the sky. jesus followers mary magdalene and the other mary were told by an angel that jesus had risen! he was finally returning to his father, almighty god. over a period of 40 days, jesus appeared to all his disciples, reinstating those who had abandoned him, except judas who had killed himself for his betrayal. the instructions jesus gave were: but you will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you. and you will be my witnesses in jerusalem, and in all judea and samaria, and to the ends of the earth. and so it was. and is. why do you stand here looking into the sky? this same jesus who was taken from you will return in the same way. and as the disciples remained, looking up in awe, two angels appeared among them...

by this, it is thought, the angels meant that jesus would return on the clouds. first, he would return to the very same mountain he departed from, and when his foot set down, the mountain itself would split in two!* *See Zechariah 14:4 and the book of Revelation 19:11-16, 20:4-6 for these and many other amazing things that will happen at Jesus Second Coming! he would rescue all the saints, all believers, at earth s most perilous time, then he would lead them back in one grand battle against the devil and the forces of evil! he would lead them riding on a white horse, and on his robe and on his leg would be written this name: king of kings and lord of lords and he and his followers will rule and reign for 1,000 years! do you want to be one of jesus followers? do you want to live with jesus in heaven and on earth and fight the battle against evil and win? it s much easier than you might think! all you have to do is receive jesus as your lord and savior! you do this by believing in him. repenting of any sins you have committed, and by praying something like this: lord god, heavenly father, creator of the heavens and earth, i believe that jesus is your son and that he came and lived and died and then lived again to save me from my sins and the punishment they deserve. please forgive my sins and save me through jesus christ, who is now my lord. please guide me every day and make my life pleasing to you. please help me pray and open up your word, the bible, to me. protect me from false doctrines and false teachers and make your desires clear to me--please put me on the right path for my life. thank you, lord jesus, for saving me. please always be the lord of my life. all this i ask and thank and praise you for, in jesus name. amen. if you prayed this prayer and believed, you are now a child of god! now, find a good church to attend (one that teaches the bible and doesn't make any other book equal to it), read your bible (start with the new testament), and remember to pray (and listen to god s answers) every day! god bless. and remember, jesus will always be with you. and after those 1,000 years, the enemy will come again, but be defeated for all time! then jesus will make everything new, and heaven and earth will be one!
