Planning MISSION ad gentes SECTOR General Objective: To live pastoral conversion with the prophetic impetus of being with the young, a community that goes out, witnesses and proclaims Jesus with hope and joy. 1 Strategy: The encounter which forms and transforms. Process: Ongoing formation to an encounter and in an encounter as an experience that transforms and generates life. Choices: Transformed by the encounter, together with the young, missionaries of hope and joy. INTRODUCTION The planning of the Mission ad gentes Sector follows the journey of conversion proposed by the GC XXII, and is in line with the 2015-2020 planning of the General Council, whose general objective is pastoral conversion, in the perspective of the GC XXIII which invites us to: «Broaden your gaze». With the young, missionaries of hope and of joy. In our every commitment and action, we wish to respond to the missionary mandate of Jesus: «Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation» (Mk 16, 15). The Word of God enlightens the six-year journey in the dynamics of the ENCOUNTER, of the sharing of bread, and of conversion. Our challenge is that of living as missionary disciples: «And their eyes were opened and they recognized him. And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem» (Lk 25, 31.33). «And when they had entered the city.. all these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, along with

the women, and Mary, the mother of Jesus and with his brothers [ ] and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance [ ]. [The people] heard them in their own tongues the mighty deeds of God» (Acts 1, 13-14; 2, 4. 11). The objective of the planning of this Sector is the same as that of the General Council, considering the missionary mark of the GC XXIII. Also the choices we have made, keep in mind the perspective of the mission ad gentes: 2 - Transformed by the encounter - Together, with the young - Missionaries of hope and joy For every choice, we proposed paths and actions to be followed and carried out, in networking, in synergy with the Church, with the various Sectors, with the Salesian Family, with the Inter-provincial Conferences, with individual Provinces, with the territory (ecclesial and civil organizations). The present reality, especially that of the young, the air of renewal which we breathe in the Church, and the challenges of the contemporary world, present to us some calls which we wish to welcome as nucleus particularly pertinent to the Mission ad gentes Sector: the new missionary awareness, the awakening of our charismatic-missionary roots, the ad gentes vocations, the initial proclamation of Christ, the phenomenon of human mobility, the intercultural, interreligious and ecumenical dialogue, the formation of intercultural communities, the peripheries. In order to concretize the objective of the planning, and make our choices effective, we have integrated these three areas: Animation/Formation, Missionary Cooperation, New Missionary Frontiers: «the peripheries» - into the same paths of the planning. TOPICS ON WHICH TO WORK IN SYNERGY WITH OTHER SECTORS The Migration Phenomenon and the Intercultural Communities; Animation and Governance; the Integrity of Creation; the Culture of the Encounter.
