FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 14, 2010 INTERVIEWS: DEAN DEBNAM 888-621-6988 / 919-880-4888 (serious media inquiries only please, other questions can be directed to Tom Jensen) QUESTIONS ABOUT THE POLL: TOM JENSEN 919-744-6312 Goodman looks like best Dem alternative Raleigh, N.C. There have been too many polls to count over the last few months showing that Harry Reid would lose to his Republican opponents so we decided to take a different tack and see how some other Democrats would do against them in the event that he decides not to run for reelection. On the topic of Reid we did find pretty much what the other polls have been finding- 36% approval to 58% disapproval, a 51-41 deficit against Sue, and a 50-42 one against Danny. PPP tested Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, and Secretary of State Ross Miller as possible alternatives to Reid. Goodman comes out the best, leading 42-40 and tied with at 41. 43% of voters in the state have a favorable opinion of him to 21% unfavorable, and he s viewed positively by Democrats, Republicans, and independents. Berkley and Miller both post numbers pretty similar to Reid. Berkley trails and by identical eight point margins and Miller has a 10 point deficit against and an 11 point one against. Berkley, Miller,, and are all relatively unknown to voters in the state with a plurality offering no opinion about each of them. Democrats would probably be better off with someone other than Harry Reid on the ballot but it would be a tough race in any case, said Dean Debnam, President of PPP. PPP surveyed 763 Nevada voters on January 11 th and 12th. The margin of error is +/- 3.6%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify. Complete results are attached and can be found at www.publicpolicypolling.com. If you would like an interview regarding this release, please contact Dean Debnam at (888) 621-6988 or 919-880-4888. ### Public Policy Polling Phone: 888 621-6988 Web: www.publicpolicypolling.com Email: information@publicpolicypolling.com
