Plan to attend Mass and stay afterwards for wonderful food, drink, and socializing with others as summer fades into fall! The menu will be the typical grilling out of burgers and brats with side dishes to go with them. All are invited! TO OUR PARISH FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN We welcome you to the celebration of the Mass, where we receive Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The word Eucharist means thanksgiving and as you celebrate with us and your children, we thank you for your presence among us. Children are especially close to the heart of Jesus so don t feel you have to stifle those wiggles and giggles in God s house. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you, so quietly explain the parts of the Mass, sing the songs, and participate as best you can. If necessary and out of charity to others, please calm your child in the BWC Hall or Monroe entrance but please feel free to come back. (Mass is available on TV monitor) Remember, the way that we welcome children in church directly affects their faith, what they think about the Mass, and by extension, Christ. Let them know that they are at home in this sacred gathering. TO MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH A smile and a word of encouragement are a joy to parents with small, active children. Let them know that they are welcome here. We also study Gregorian Chant, Sacred Polyphony, Hymnody, choral techniques and cantor skills. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings starting September 13 th from 5:30pm 7pm. Contact Mrs. Rachael Verhaagh at rverhaagh.sfx@gmail.com PIANO NEEDED! The Cathedral is in need of replacing the piano that is currently kept in the BWC hall. The piano is damaged due to age and temperature change related issues. Unfortunately, after being examined by a professional piano technician, we have discovered that it cannot be refurbished. We have been using it for weddings and funerals, but the piano can no longer keep up with our needs. Our Music Director, Rachael, has been working with a reputable piano dealer to procure a new one. If you are willing to help offset the cost, please call the office. BWC Chandeliers As you entered the Cathedral through the BWC, you should have noticed four different chandeliers hanging in the hall leading to the church. These four chandeliers were originally hung in the four arches in the sanctuary of the Cathedral in 1934. They are hand hammered wrought iron purchased from Daprato Statuary Company from Chicago. They were 4 of 23 fixtures with bulbs installed with the electrical upgrade to the Cathedral during the renovation of 1934-1936. Bishop Peter Rhode was the Bishop at that time. These chandeliers were recently retrieved from the rectory basement, sandblasted, painted, rewired, and then hung. Father Dorner and Bishop Ricken both felt that these beautiful historic fixtures needed to be brought out of storage. Join other members of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to peacefully pray outside of Planned Parenthood in Ashwaubenon. Cathedral times are Tuesdays 5 pm - 6 pm and s 11 am - Noon. (September 26th - November 4th). For more information or if you plan to take part, contact Vonda at 371-0839 or visit 40daysforlife.com.
