WE CENTER OURSELVES ON GOD Welcome to a time of Sabbath, rest, and renewal \September 9, 2018 Glade Matters Shared moments of information and inspiration about our church family Prelude *Processional Hymn God Reigns O er All the Earth #21 *Call to Worship L: Where two or three are gathered, Christ s Spirit is present. P: May our coming together proclaim our commitment to Christ and the church. L: God calls us away from anger and disputes to honest communication and reconciliation. P: We renew our allegiance to the commandment, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Prayer of Invocation (Offered by all) O God, we rebel against authority and resist those who would tell us how to live. When we are wronged, we want to fight back. When we are angry with people, we do not want to forgive them. When we are alienated from others, we prefer to ignore them rather than face the painful process of reconciliation. But you do not let us rest easy with our disputes or our enemies. Down deep we are not happy with ourselves this way. Help us to change, according to your purposes for us. Amen. September 16 at 4:45 at the Soup Kitchen on All Saints Street in Frederick We are back at the Soup Kitchen on Sunday, September 16th. We will be needing mac & cheese, cakes, salad fixings and rolls and, of course, YOU. Please come out and help. Our homemade mac & cheese and ham continue to be a popular meal and it is great to see how much people enjoy it. The sign up sheet is on the table in the back of the church. Thank you for your continued dedication to this ministry. The Guild needs your garden s extra red, green and yellow bell peppers to freeze for the pepper slaw for our November 2nd & 3rd church dinners. We could also use pint and quart size jars for the dinners. Although the members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry have not met on a regular basis, they have been busy making the lovely shawls and blankets that have been presented to our loved ones this year. We have almost depleted our inventory of yarn. If you would like to donate yarn or money towards yarn to help us replenish our inventory of blankets and shawls, please contact Connie Rough.
