Monday 17 November 2014 2pm 4pm Looking at how to pray for vision and growth, developing vision, healthy church principles and the marks of a growing church. Mission Action Planning Wednesday 10 December 2014 2pm 4pm Looking at the process from vision to a plan; the purpose and benefits of a MAP, helpful tools and processes, the MAP cycle, what MAP looks like and how to follow through. Change Management in the Local Church Tuesday 3 February 2015 2pm 4pm You have the vision, you know where you want to go, but how can you take people along with you? An introduction to change management in church. What on earth is the Church for? New ways for Inherited Church and Fresh Expressions Tuesday 24 March 2015 2pm 4pm This seminar will be an exploration of what a mixed economy church might need to look like in the coming decade. Includes Bible Study, sermons and other resources and an opportunity to discuss and share. Writing Funding Applications Thursday 30 April 2015 10 am-12 pm Cost tbc Funding is competitive! If you need help or are just looking for the confidence to apply to grant-making organisations, this practical workshop is for you. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the session for your draft applications to be reviewed. Planned Giving Getting into - and keeping in shape Wednesday 15 April 2015 (10-11.30 am), Tuesday 28 April 2015(7.45-9.15 pm) and Autumn 2015 date and time tbc. this is the same session repeated An introduction to the basics of a healthy Parish Funding Programme, the importance of an annual review, and how to keep stewardship on the radar at other times of the year. Engaging with Children & Parents All Age Services at Sunday Tea Time Thursday 2 October 2014 2pm-4 pm Open the Book Training Tuesday 16 June 2015 10 am 3.30 pm We believe that the 4 or 5pm time on Sunday afternoons will be an increasingly important slot for family ministry. This seminar will include five churches explaining the stories of the (very different) things they have tried, and will also explore ways we can centrally resource churches to make Diocesan Certificate in Children s Work/Ministry Tues evenings 3, 10, 24 Feb and 3 March 2015 St John s Church, Walton-on-Thames Basic training course for those who are new to children s work in a parish context or for those who wish to improve their understanding and skills. Engaging with Youth Open the Book is an OFSTED approved method of enabling Churches to engage with their local primary schools. The day will explain everything you need to know about the aims and purpose of Open the Book as well as giving practical training and experience of delivering an OtB Act of Collective Worship. Faith in Families Date and time to be confirmed A seminar aimed at equipping churches to help parents pray for their children, draw them by example into the community of faith and walk with them in the way of Christ. This is part of our show & tell series where various churches will share things that have worked well for them. The Porn Problem Monday 10 November 2014 1.30 pm 4.30pm For Youth leaders and church leaders Pornography is a massive problem in our society an an increasing issue in our churches and youth groups This session will equip clergy, youth leaders and others in talking about and addressing the issue of porn use in our congregations and groups, and will also give tools and information to aid leaders in pointing people towards recovery. Let s Talk about Porn Monday 10 November 2014 7.30 pm-10 pm Venue: Emmanuel Church, Stoughton, Guildford Cost: 5 For parents and carers 33% of ten year olds have seen porn and about 20% of late teens say they are dependent on it. This session is aimed at helping parents to understand the pornification of young people s lives and how they can best talk about porn with their teenage children. Taking care of the Mental Health Youth Ministers Wednesday 4 March 2015 11 a 3 pm Cost: tbc Stress, anxiety and depression are all common mental health struggles that many face. The demands of ministry can make these struggles worse or start unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving. This day is aimed at youth ministers, whatever their mental health to talk about prevention, recognising our own struggles and where we can help. Mind the Gap An introduction to the way different generations think Date, time and cost to be confirmed Many people claim that leaders only engage well with people 10 years either side of their own age. We think that does not need to be true providing you learn how to understand how different generations think. This seminar is intended to introduce you to some generational theory. It should help you to understand people of different ages better and therefore engage with them more effectively.

This innovative day includes 10 speakers speaking for 10 minutes each. Discussion and coffee. Creating Sparks Aimed at: Anyone involved or interested in children s work Date: Saturday 16 May 2015 10 am 3.30 pm Venue: Holy Trinity Junior School, Guildford Cost: 10 per person Annual Training Day for all those involved in ministry to under 11s. Jane Butcher of BRF s Faith in Homes Ministry will be the Keynote Speaker and a variety of workshops will be on offer. First Timer Training Aimed at: Those new to children s, family or youth work Date: Mondays 11am-3 pm during term time Venue: Education Centre, Guildford Our year long training course for all those starting out in youth, children s or family ministry for the first time on gap years or as a first employment in a church. This course covers theology, practical skills, reflection and includes a retreat in the spring. Around 2.00 and 4.30 there will be short presentation of ideas used by parishes and schools and one or more of the military chaplains will be joining us to answer your questions about how to work sensitively with service personnel and their families during this commemoration. 4.6 First Timer Training Aimed at: Employed workers, new to children s, family or youth work. Date: Mondays 11am -3 pm during term time Venue: Education Centre, Guildford Our year long training course for all those starting out in youth, children s or family ministry for the first time on gap years or as a first employment in a church. This course covers theology, practical skills, reflection and a retreat in the spring. New youth and children s workers may join the course at the start of each term. Led by: David Welch We run a 2 session basic youthwork training course in local parishes on request and at no cost this is a great course to help new volunteers just starting out or old hands wanting a refresher!
