Marriages Anyone who wishes to be married at Our Lady of Peace Parish, is asked to contact at least six months before the desired date to schedule an appointment. Couples must attend a marriage prep program called Pre-Cana. The Catholic Church law ordinarily requires baptized Roman Catholics to marry before a priest or deacon. Unless they requested and received a dispensation from canonical form, Catholics who exchange marriage vows in the presence of only ministers from other religious traditions or authorized civic officials are not considered validly married in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Later, those couples may seek to have their union officially recognized by the Church. In technical Church terms, this is known as convalidation of a marriage. If you need more information, please call the rectory. Anointing of the Sick... We will no longer have anointing of the sick on a monthly basis. We will have an annual anointing of the sick mass in May, details to follow. Our Eucharistic s also minister communion to those sick members on Sundays. In accordance with the Privacy Act, a family member must provide the name of their family member who is unable to attend weekly Mass or is considered a shut in to the office/rectory. Schedule Changes 5:30PM PARISH MASS Our Lady of Peace and St. Madeline Parishes decided to jointly offer a Sunday evening Mass two years ago, beginning on September 11, 2016. The Mass has been held at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and a nice, consistent crowd has been coming. Fr. Flanagan and I agree that this has been a very positive ministry that our parishes have shared. We also agree that we will rotate the Mass between our parishes every two years. So, beginning on July 1, 2018, St. Madeline will now be the host Church for the next two years. We look forward to seeing the same good people that have attended the Mass at Notre Dame. We will also be giving you further information for parking, handicap accessibility, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, etc. Thank you and God bless you. Blessing for your Home The Donation for the Votive Candle is now $10.00 for a week or $20.00 for the month. Please fill out the coupon below for the Votive Candle and bring to the Office. EITC REDIRECT YOUR PA TAX DOLLARS TO CATHOLIC EDUCATION IN DELAWARE COUNTY Looking to redirect your PA tax dollars to Catholic education in Delaware County while receiving a 90% PA tax credit? We have an opportunity open to Notre Dame de Lourdes school families, their friends and family members, and Our Lady of Peace parishioners and their friends and families. Pennsylvania offers education tax credits know as the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) or the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC). Both tax credits help families committed to Catholic education for their children with tuition assistance. For generations, Catholic schools provided free, and then affordable education to families seeking to raise Catholic children. While free Catholic education is no longer a reality, many Catholic families continue to seek out a Catholic education for their children. They make willing sacrifices to invest in the character formation of their children and their economic future. Partner with them by redirecting your PA tax dollars. Thanks to a recent change in Pennsylvania law, individuals, S-Corps, and LLCs with a PA tax liability can now join a Special Purpose Entity (SPE) to take full advantage of the PA EITC programs. The Foundation for Catholic Education has set up a SPE for individuals desiring to reduce their tax liability in PA while advancing Catholic education in Delaware County. All you need to do by June 15, 2018: 1. Look at line 12 on your PA individual taxes and determine how much you want to contribute to tuition assistance at Notre Dame de Lourdes School. 75% of your tax liability is a good place to start. 2. Review the "SPE 2018/2019 Operating Agreement & Disclosure Documents" available at the school office. We can also email you a copy; email Barb Hoyer atnddl.development@gmail.com. 3. Sign the "Commitment to Distribute to SPE 2018/2019 Form," also available through the school office or Barb Hoyer, making sure to designate Notre Dame de Lourdes as the school receiving your valuable tax credit. 4. Return the signed commitment to the school office or Judi Neeld, Foundation for Catholic Education, 1373 Enterprise Drive, West Chester, PA 19380. Safe Environment Policies Archdiocesan policy requires all church personnel to obtain background checks. This includes any priest, deacon, pastoral minister, employee, school employee, parish employee, contract employee or volunteers. If anyone needs new clearances and training, updating clearances, or has any questions, please contact Anne at the rectory 610-532-8081 or email: olp532@aol.com Clearance Requirements (14 years of age or older): must be renewed every 5 years. 1.
