JUNE 2018 CONNECT GRACE-FILLED COMMUNITY INSPIRED WORSHIP TRANSFORMATIONAL MISSION PLANNING AND RENEWAL Where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18 On July 1st I will enter my fourth year in ministry with each of you at Haddonfield UMC with an extremely grateful heart. The people, passion, gifts, and witness of this congregation are abundant and evident. At the same time, the needs and hurts of the world and community around us are many. Because we have gifts to offer, needs to meet, and people who are in need of the transformative love and grace of Jesus Christ, our church has entered a season of discernment and strategic planning of how we will organize our ministries, staffing, programs and assets over the next three years. Many thanks to over 400 people who responded to the survey and the 100 people who came to the churchwide meeting to help in the process of discerning vision, opportunities and priorities to guide us in the future. Our strategic team is planning based on the fruits of our work together, feedback, scripture and other information that will help guide our process, which will continue through the summer. Our goal is to have a drafted plan to present to the church in September with the hopes of adopting it at our Church Conference, which will be held in the Fall. If you have further questions, please contact me at checkert@haddonfieldumc.org For the summer months, I look forward to a lighter schedule, enjoying the beauty of creation, and spending time with family, as well as engaging in mission and a pilgrimage to the community of Taizé. I pray you stay connected with us as you do the same, and let our hearts rejoin in the same mission of embodying the love of Christ in a hurting world. Renewed in Love, Rev. Chris Heckert, Sr. Pastor STAY CONNECTED THIS SUMMER! THANK YOU! Thank you to all of those who participated in the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) event on April 20-22. 191 people volunteered during our shift, which included 40 volunteers from HUMC, and packed 255 boxes of food during their two hours. That means 55,080 meals were packed in under two hours, and 150 children will receive a meal every day for the next year. In total, over the entire weekend, over 500,000 meals were packed. To learn more about how you can help feed children around the world, please visit www.fmsc.org
