AWANA Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 nd Timothy 2:15 Since 1950 Awana has helped churches and parents raise young people who know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Each of the 28,000 clubs around the world emphasizes the same three things: Young people hear the gospel message, They memorize, study and read God s Word, And they have fun! We have the privilege of serving as full-time Awana missionaries in our home state of Ohio. Since we answered God s call to the ministry in 1998 He has blessed us with much spiritual fruit as we present the gospel to thousands of people each year and as we serve over 400 churches with Awana clubs. We are counting on your faithfulness to help us sow the seeds of the gospel among young people who are without hope for eternity. Christ alone can meet their needs. This past year we have seen the Lord accomplish much; yet we know that the present blessings will pale in comparison to those in eternity.

You can share in those benefits when you partner with us.

Steve s testimony I was saved on October 4th, 1970, during a communion service at Bible Mission Baptist Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Before this, I had been attending a Bible study at the home of my future wife and her family, where I first heard the gospel. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God ; I learned the truth of Christ's sacrifice for my sins through this study. I was born again that first Sunday in October when the Pastor presented the communion elements, and preached from 1 Corinthians 11, "Let every man examine himself". I examined my life, and realized that I was a sinner who needed Christ as Savior and Lord. I was baptized and joined the church, where we continued to grow in the Lord. I served in the Awana club at Bible Mission and was active in the youth group. Pam and I were also married there during our senior year in college. It is amazing to relate what great things the Lord has done with us since then. I lived in Reynoldsburg until my graduation from Ohio State and commissioning as an officer in the Marine Corps. In the Marines I remained active in teaching home Bible studies and in my local church. Since 1985 I have been a member of Emmanuel Baptist in Dayton. The Lord continues to bless us as Awana missionaries. There is no greater joy than to know that you are in the center of God s will for your life serving Him through our ministry to the churches here in Ohio. Pam s testimony Isaiah 65:1 says "I permitted myself to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I permitted myself to be found by those who did not seek me." I can testify that these words are true because the Lord called and saved me when I was not looking for Him. I remember always being in church on Sunday from the time I was a very young child through my early teens. However, I never heard the gospel. At the age of 13 I received my first Bible and remember thinking it would be good to read it through someday. A year later, while on vacation with my family, I remembered my resolution to read through the Bible "someday". I sat down late one evening and proceeded to read Romans. God's Spirit taught me that night that I was a sinner and that the penalty for sin was death! So convinced was I of the seriousness of my situation that I desperately clung to what the Bible said was provided for my sin -- the Lord Jesus Christ and His blood. My hunger for God's word continued to grow, and after high school graduation I became a student at Philadelphia College of the Bible. While attending PCB I began a friendship with another student who was a nurse, and the Lord used her to further direct me in to the vocation of nursing. How thankful I am to the One who permitted Himself to be found; my life has never been the same!

Our Prayer That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. The greatest need for young people today is a personal relationship with Christ. Our prayer is that God will use our ministry through Awana to introduce them to the Savior so that they will trust Him and continue to serve Him forever. We are preparing them for eternity and also preparing them to live their lives here and now in Ohio. Our Vision To be a strategic partner with churches and ministries in a global effort to ensure the opportunity for all children and youth to be evangelized and discipled in Christ. We stand alongside the local church to help them fulfill the great commission in their neighborhood. The mission field is right outside our doors and the field is white for harvest! We know you want to continue to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ. When you partner with us you can expand your impact beyond the walls of your local church. Our Mission To work with our ministry partners in creating and disseminating integrated programs, tools and training that equip leaders to evangelize and disciple children and youth for Christ. Our programs focus on proclaiming the gospel through age-appropriate worship, learning God s Word through a systematic Scripture memory program, and creating excitement to attract young people and their friends. We also help churches provide service opportunities by training and equipping workers. We pray that you would be rich towards God by investing in these eternal things.

Our Ministry as Awana Missionaries Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Awana missionaries are on the front line in the battle for the souls of children. We open God s Word and present the good news as we visit scores of clubs every year. Last year God enabled us to visit 112 churches and clubs. Starting new Awana clubs. Each year dozens of pastors and parents contact us for help in bringing Awana to their church. We meet with the key leaders and often speak to the entire congregation to share our vision for evangelizing young people and their families. Each new club has the potential to reach hundreds of children with the gospel message! Recruiting, training and mentoring volunteers and lay leaders. Trained adults are a key factor in the success of any Awana club. We offer basic training for new workers as well as advanced training through annual conferences. Commander College is a special weekend designed to equip and encourage the key leaders in the club. Throughout the year we also meet with groups of Awana workers to provide refresher training and to address specific challenges at their club. We are always available for consultation and advice. Equipping leaders to offer events where families will hear the gospel. Awana Games, Sparks A Rama, Bible quizzing, Grand Prix, Turkey Bowl: each activity provides an opportunity to present the gospel message to the children, youth and family members who attend. We have equipment for churches to borrow and conduct their own event: fun fair games, get-wet games, and grand prix tracks.

Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. 2 nd Corinthians 8:7 As Awana missionaries we work and pray that every young person across Ohio would know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We need your help to continue this life-changing mission. All Awana missionaries are 100 percent faith supported. God provides the resources for our ministry and living expenses through the faithfulness of those churches and individuals who become partners with us. Our current ministry need is $7000 per month which includes travel, office expenses, supplies and a family allowance. Our current support level is $6650, or 95% of the full amount to allow us to serve full-time. Partners who donate to our ministry through Awana know that their contribution is being used to further the cause of Christ across the state. They will receive monthly updates from us sharing our blessings and prayer requests. Your giving will be a blessing to us, and you will be blessed in return. All checks should be made out to Awana. The first donation can be sent to us and we will ensure it is credited to our ministry; then each month you will receive a receipt and prayer update from Awana (in addition to our letter). You can return the receipt with your next donation. The Lord still has much to accomplish through Awana. With your support we will be able to train more workers, start more clubs, conduct more evangelistic meetings, and reach more kids for Christ. There is no better investment. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. John 4:36
