Reflections: Welcome The following is a recent letter received by Father Tomasz: Dearest Father Tomasz, I cannot fully put into words how jubilant I am that I, as well as my peers, are coming upon the date that we will all be official members of the Catholic Church. I am ready to utilize my faith for the goodness it provides me with for the rest of my life. I have learned that receiving Confirmation is not the end of my faith life, rather, it is the beginning. I am more than ready to take my faith seriously and live out my faith through service. Recently, a group of students from Holy Name went down to Haiti on a mission trip. While there, they built a house for a family in need and played with Haitian orphans. One of my closest friends was lucky enough to be able to go to Haiti. She told me that while reflecting on her trip, it was difficult for her to come back and live her normal life knowing that babies did not have diapers or clothes and that children walked around shoeless while bugs ate at their toes. She said that she was guilty of complaining that a shopping line was too long or that food from certain restaurants is not good, like we all have, yet, we are all lucky enough to even have the privilege of owning clothes and being able to get food whenever we want. After hearing her reflection, questions popped into my head, such as how do I help places in need, like Haiti? What is the next step to helping third world countries? How much change can a young girl, like myself, make? The sacrament of Confirmation means that one is ready and willing. I am ready and willing to live out my faith life and put it to use, whether by helping the suffering children of Haiti or by volunteering at a local food pantry. I have been well prepared to receive the sacrament of Confirmation through all the classes and service projects I have attended. I hope that by becoming an official member of Saint Patrick s Parish in addition to the Catholic community, I will obtain a sense of belonging and direction of goodness towards serving others. Throughout my entire life, it has been stupendous getting to know God and the members of Saint Patrick s Parish. I am looking forward to seeing what my confirmation brings me and how it will enable me to change the world through my faith, one step at a time. The beloved Mother Teresa once said, faith in action is love, and love in action is service. I am beyond prepared to serve and help my world and those who inhabit it and receiving the sacrament of Confirmation will help me to do so. Thank you for your time. Best wishes, Katherine Pingeton Please keep Paul Covino in your prayers as he prepares for his ordination into the Diaconate on June 3rd @10:00 AM at Cathedral of St. Paul in Worcester. Paul will be celebrating his first Mass as a Deacon on Sunday June 4th at 10:00 AM here at St. Patrick s at which time he will be baptizing his Grandson. A reception will follow in the parish center. Happy Mother s Day!

Welcome Prayer for Those in the Service Almighty God, we stand before you asking for your divine mercy and protection. Embrace with Your invincible armor our loved ones in all branches of the service. Give them courage and strength against all enemies both spiritual and physical and hasten their safe journey back to their homes and families. Amen Please remember the following service personnel in your Prayers as they serve and protect our country: Pvt. Tyler Finnigan, US Army, Ft. Devens, MA L.Cpl. Aaron Marshall, Okinawa, Eric Hoyt, Machinist 1st Class, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, U.S. Army, L.Cpl. Troy Monteville, Stateside, LTJG David Mobed, US Navy, USS Mason The Young Neighbors In Action 2017 and Anne Haas will be collecting bottles and cans to help defray the cost of the service trip this summer. Please drop off your clean cans and bottles in the Parish Center. If you would like someone to pick them up call Anne at 508-234-9163. Thank you for supporting our YNIA Team of 30 students and 6 adults as they prepare for their service Trip in June to Tucson Arizona Important Plea from the Diocese of Worcester, Office of the Bishop: At the Bishops Conference meeting in November 2015, the bishops voted overwhelmingly to support a request by Cardinal Wuerl for a one-time collection for completion of the mosaics in the main dome of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. The last time a national collection was taken for the shrine occurred in 1953 in order to build the upper church. This collection is being held during the month of May, 2017. Rather than having a second collection at all the churches, the Diocese will have an online donation page on the diocesan website in order to give to this needed request. The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington has served and continues to serve the American Catholic faithful through tremendous pastoral outreach. Raising the funds to complete this project which began nearly 100 years ago will make the shrine even more inspiring to visiting faithful in its role as a living sign of the continued faith of Catholic in the United States. Please help support the completion of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington whose beauty inspires us all! Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester Workers Needed Our homecare program is looking for aides to care for elders and the disabled in surrounding towns. Aides provide light housekeeping, laundry and shopping. This program provides paid training, mileage reimbursements and a schedule to meet your needs. If interested, please call: 1-800-649-4364
