The Pastor s Page "Since my youth, O God, You have taught me, and to this day I declare Your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come. Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You?" ~ Psalm 71: 17-19 Do you know that another generation needs you? This is true of every generation. The younger generation needs the older generation for their wisdom, experience, stories and stability. The older generation needs the younger for energy and vitality. God blesses every generation by providing them the privilege of sharing His story and His eternal gifts of grace, love and mercy to their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. This is your legacy of faith that continues throughout every generation. I believe that both the Iraan and McCamey UMC s desire to share our faith legacy and God s story with those around us that have not yet heard. This includes our families, our friends and our neighbors as we look toward the future with hope and trust in God to lead us forward. We need each other. Much prayer, thought and time is being invested to intentionally weave together the beloved elements of the traditional and contemporary worship. It is my goal that everyone feels welcomed in worship. Another goal that I have is to make our guests feel extravagantly welcomed. Please be in prayer that God will raise up people to fill the various roles and be open if you hear God calling you. As we continue to journey together, I will be seeking your prayers, you patience and your input to the following questions regarding our worship services Does our worship: Glorify God? Build up the body of Christ? Welcome the visitor? Nurture us for God s mission in the world? I know that in the midst of change there is fear of the unknown, but I am praying that we will not allow fear or our own likes and dislikes to bind us. I hold the same conviction as Dr. Robert Webber, Worship is the key to the renewal of the church. God s Spirit is powerfully moving through us and I pray that we are open to the Holy Spirit s mighty wind of renewal and revival! May God continue to work powerfully through God s people here at First UMC Iraan & First UMC - McCamey. Every blessing, Pastor Charles Alkula (Adapted from an article written by the Rev. Andrea Haldeman, Hamburg, PA)
