ST. Aurelijum Sat., Dec. 7th, 11.00 a.m. Advent Reflections in Lithuanian with Fr. Aurelijus, Franciscan Fathers from Kennebunkport, ME Please join us for lunch afterwards Opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Advent: Sat. 12/7 St. Peter (Brother Aurelijus) 11 a.m. Sun. 12/22 Our Lady of Czestochowa 4 p.m. Dear parishioner and Extended Family Members of St. Peter Lithuanian Parish, Garbė Jėzui Kristui! Praised be Jesus Christ!! In October, our parish was given a glimpse into the future. I received a phone call from the Clergy Personnel Office asking if I would be Temporary Administrator of St. Ann Parish, Dorchester. It was explained to me that the Cardinal needed me to do this since there were no other priests available. I agreed to accept the Cardinal s request. I think it was very apparent from the letter I read from the pulpit on Veterans Day Weekend that the Cardinal not only appreciated my sacrifice on behalf of the good people of St. Ann Parish, but yours as well, as I assumed that duty for a month and a half. I appreciate the flexibility shown by you, the parishioners, especially by those who attend daily Mass. This request will come to an end December 1. I do not expect this to be an isolated case. Because the Lithuanian Community of Greater Boston is rather small and chooses not to place much demand on the parish, I will be viewed as a priest with more availability than others. Because the number of priests available for parish ministry continues to decline, this is a natural conclusion. Please know that I will always serve you, the Lithuanian Community, in my priesthood. However, because of the increased demands made on priests, you will not always have me strictly to yourselves. There are fewer and fewer parishes in the Archdiocese making exclusive claims on the priests assigned to them. I ask to please pray for priests as they face increasing demands as well as for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. (Perhaps you know someone in the community who is a good candidate for the priesthood or religious life!) As we find ourselves preparing for the holiest night on the Lithuanian calendar, Kučios (Christmas Eve), may God bless you and your loved ones as we cry out Come, Lord Jesus! during this blessed Advent season. Jūsų Kristuje (Yours in Christ), Fr. Steve Zukas
