Bilaspur Overview Nizar Juma opened the Bilaspur dialogue at the Hotel East Park on September 28, 2013. "We have many laws against corruption but nothing will change until an individual decides to make spirituality part of their daily life." Anthony Phelips from the UK facilitated and one of the local organisers described the harmony created as 'weaved together like a poem'. There was a richness of experience in the dialogue. Vivek Bajpai, shared his experience of travelling with a convoy of political leaders in May 2013, "We were attacked by Naxalites in Bastar. Twenty seven in our party were killed. One of my friends told the attackers that they were good people and what they did was wrong and the society did not expect this from them. They had guns and grenades, we only had soft power. It saved us." Kiranpal Singh Chawla, Director, Onkar Educational Academy, "As my guru, Ravi Shankar says, 'spirituality is the fruit of the banana and religion is the skin'. We are losing the banana and fighting over the skin!" Vidya Gowardhan, President, Bhagini Mandal, The art of crafting true humans is by enhancing their virtues and not by punishment. Dr. S.K. Laha, Additional CMD & Joint Food Safety Commissioner, Success is a journey, not a destination. There is a river flowing within us, we can make a dam through our vision, willingness and inner joy and produce power". Dr Supriya Bhartheeyan, Broadcaster, All India Radio, "Be truthful within. If you can minimise your demands on resources, they can be utilised for everyone". And also along these lines, Jitendra Gandhi, Vice Chairman, Chhattisgarh Laghu Evam Sahayak Udyog Sangh, shared "We may not get everything in life. We should make the most of what we do have''. We also had a Q & A session, "Everyone agrees that spirituality is important, then why isn't everyone doing it? What's the barrier?" Nizar Juma replied, "I avoided spirituality because I confused it with religion. Spirituality is not a dogma. There is no need to put a flag or tag on yourself signifying that you are spiritual." Another question posed was, "If we are a hundred percent truthful we may not survive. How do we manage?" Maureen Chen replied, I decided that I will just do what is right, it doesn't matter what the consequences will be. It doesn't just work, it is miraculous. However I do have to face what comes in between!" The evening programme began with a 'Talk Show'. Satyabhama Awasthi shared, "For the first time I felt that I was questioning and spending crucial time with myself. I felt light after sharing." Lila Carol Rickard, Quantic Potential Measurement Specialist from UK added, "We try to move away from short term pain towards short term pleasure. This compromises long term happiness... It is so refreshing that in India people talk openly of the soul... There is the power of cohesion, the power of togetherness". S.P. Chaturvedi, MD, Guru Ghasidas Central University, "It is a matter of happiness and pride for us when people from western countries truly believe that the power is shifting from west to east but we need to take this seriously, it can only happen when the citizens and leaders take individual responsibility." Dr. Nirmala Kajaria, Director, Brahma Kumaris Gyan Sarovar Academy, blessed both events, "God is Karankaravanhar, He did not create a beautiful world only through one Brahma but through his thousand hands which are us. Knowing and understanding God, we are empowered and can control our mind, intellect and senses. We must take whatever God wants to give us. When I realise that I am a soul and the child of the Omnipotent, I can absorb power to deal with critical situations."

Shri Dharmlal Kuashik, Hon Speaker of Chhattisgarh was the Chief Guest. "The dam of perseverance gets broken when the energy gets exhausted. It is indispensable that we fill our empty buckets and store power for critical situations. If we create a balance in work and partner with spiritual organisations like this, India will again be the world leader. They have programmes for each faculty of society - doctors, scientists, jurists, media, religious, political, etc. I request you to learn spiritual tools and techniques from them." We can conclude with the experience of Mervyn Herscovitz, Director, Quality Foods, Zimbabwe, "I have spent three fantastic days in Bilaspur and the most incredible thing is the light, love, contentment and happiness which I can see in your eyes. I thank the community of Bilaspur for this love and affection."
