Items new this week are marked with yellow Dear Friends, We had a great few days of Vacation Bible School and a wonderful celebration of VBS last Sunday. Our thanks again to Erin Pryke, Mary Thomas and Kelly Landry for coordinating VBS! This week is the 12 th Sunday after Pentecost. The Gospel reading is Luke 12:32-40. These are a collection of sayings from Jesus about security in God versus placing our trust in money and possessions. The 8:30 am service will be Holy Communion using our summer liturgy. The 11:00 am service will be Holy Communion. Saundra Wingert will be playing at both services this Sunday. In honor of Old Home Week we have two special musical presentations at both services. Peggy, Megan and Kristen Louder will present Great Is Thy Faithfulness and Megan Louder will present Who Am I. We appreciate their gift of music for worship this week! Sunday School is in recess until September 11. Also a notice that on August 28 there will be only one service at 10:00 am. That is my last Sunday at Trinity and the Worship and Music Committee wants to hold one service that day for the whole congregation. FELLOWSHIP TIME FOLLOWING THE 8:30 AM WORSHIP service. If you or a couple people would be willing to provide snacks and cold drinks for Sunday morning fellowship time, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board in the vestibule. If you do provide snacks, please either refrain from items with peanut butter or nuts of be sure to mark the items. We have several members who have allergies to these foods. ALL ADULTS AND CHILDREN interested in being in the Old Home Week parade on Thursday August 11th should contact Mary Thomas 597-1569 or at maryf.thomas@comcast.net. The rain date is Saturday, August 13th at 2:00 p.m. Also, the committee will be decorating the float on the Wednesday and Thursday of Old Home Week here at the church. The time for decorating will be announced. All the help will be appreciated. BLESSING OF BACKPACKS, August 14th at 8:30 and 11 am services. Be sure to bring your backpack, satchel, whatever you use for school or work! All backpacks will be blessed during the children's sermon. This is available for all kids, from 1 to 100. So, get ready for the new school year by having your backpack blessed. If you use a satchel or briefcase for work, feel free to bring it along AT THE CONCLUSION of each service on August 14th we will be dedicating the "Cross Wall". Thanks to the many donations of crosses we now have a wall in the vestibule decorated with a variety of crosses. While we are dedicating the wall there is still space for continued contributions into the future. THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED THE CROSSES! SPECIAL APPEAL FOR AUGUST -The Special Appeal for August is designated for Ronald McDonald House and Four Diamond Fund. Ronald McDonald House provides housing for family members visiting patients in the hospital. Four Diamond Fund, affiliated with the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center provides fund to cover expenses for children with cancer not paid by any other means. If you desire to make a monetary donation they will be split between both. Please mark your envelope for Special Appeal or use the white envelope in the pew rack and mark it "Special Appeal". CALL COMMITTEE the Council is seeking volunteers to serve on the Call Committee beginning this fall. The Committee of six persons will be responsible for leading the process for the call of new pastor for Trinity. If you are willing to be considered for this, please speak with Beth Ford or another member of the Congregation Council. Postage Stamps The Stamps for Missions program is ongoing. One pound of stamps provides a Bible for someone. When you cut them leave about 1 inch around each stamp. Thanks for helping to pick up the "tab" for the many families who use our "House that love built" - all at no cost! A new collection station, made by James Thomas, has been placed in the vestibule with separate boxes to deposit these items. Chambersburg Conference News August 2016 DINNER AT THE RIDGE Dinner at the Ridge will be held at 12:00pm at the Fleck Center on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The cost is $6.75. The Shippensburg Swing Band will be on hand for an evening of fun on August 12 th. A food stand with grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda, and water will be available beginning at 5:00p.m. Music will begin at 6:00p.m. A free will offering will be taken to support the SpiriTrust Lutheran Chambersburg Auxiliary. In the case of bad weather, the event will move inside the Fleck Center. Alzheimer s Paint Night Fundraiser A Paint Night Fundraiser will be held Tuesday, August 23 rd at 6pm at the Fleck Center on the campus of SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Luther Ridge. The cost is $35 and includes all the supplies needed to create a beautiful acrylic masterpiece. The event will be led by local artist, Cindy Smith. A glass of wine and light appetizers will also be served. All proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer s Association. No experience necessary so grab a few friends and come out to support a great cause.
