Church Life CONNECT CHURCH WE RE GLAD YOU RE HERE! I love this church because it teaches me the true way to live my life; the way God wills it for us. I enjoy the fellowship and the way it makes me feel as if I am attending a family reunion. The people here are so inviting and so loving. I serve Jesus with you by giving back to my church family through the hospitality team, just the way I would love to serve Jesus. I generously serve you in love and gratitude. If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad your choice was to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. Join us between services for refreshments and fellowship on the patio. Sylvia Thomas Thinking about joining this church, being baptized, or just want to find out more about the ministries and mission? Please attend an upcoming Church Orientation session. Royal Palm Campus - Sunday, October 2nd at 11:00 AM or Wednesday, October 5th at 7:00 PM in the Coffee Shop. Acreage Campus - Sunday, October 2nd at 11:00 AM in the Choral Room. Are you just beginning to visit with us and would like to meet the leadership staff? You are invited to lunch with the Pastors and their families! We look forward to meeting you next Sunday, October 2nd at 12:30 PM in the Activity Center on the Royal Palm Campus.

Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, Church or simply Life concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. Are you searching for a place to CONNECT? God.grants us rewards for generous giving: Go sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven Matthew 19:21. Jesus is keeping track of our smallest acts of kindness: If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward Matthew 10:42. God is keeping a record of all we do for Him, including our giving: A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name Malachi 3:16. Imagine a scribe in heaven recording each of your gifts on that scroll. The bike you gave to the neighbor kid, the books to the prisoners, the monthly checks to the church, missionaries, and pregnancy center all are being chronicled. Scrolls are made to be read. Jesus said, If you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else s property, who will give you property of your own? Luke 16:11-12 If you handle His money faithfully, Christ will give you true riches eternal ones. from The Treasure Principle Senior Adults, Don t miss out on the upcoming Adult 5 & 6 Fellowship! God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP from Dr. Dale R. Faircloth Scripture: 1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance but, as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy. Observation: Peter wrote these words of instruction and encouragement to the persecuted church in Asia Minor only a few years before Nero blamed believers for burning Rome. The church was going through hard times from government censorship and from the effects of a decadent society. The Apostle Peter, however, did not cottle them, but rather reminded all that the standard was not lowered because of difficulty. The standard comes from God and is the holiness of God Himself. Only Jesus makes this possible. God says we are no longer separated from Him by our sin, but are born again through Jesus. According to John 1, Jesus is the living and enduring word of God. Through Jesus the Christ, we start again as imperishable seed instead of our deserved destiny of separation for eternity. We endure in our salvation because our Savior is the enduring one. We neither save ourselves nor endure by keeping ourselves saved. Jesus is the one who was raised from the dead giving us faith and hope in God. Application: Only in humility can I approach God. He has done all the work and salvation belongs to Jesus. My opportunity is to belong to Jesus as well. My salvation will endure because Jesus endures. He endured the cross, sin, and the grave and conquered them all. Now salvation is mine because I am His. My obedience is a natural results of my relationship to God as my Father. Prayer: Lord, thank You for sending Jesus to conquer sin and death in my life. I admit that I am unworthy and look to You for the salvation I am experiencing and the salvation to come. Thank you for adopting me for eternity. In Jesus name, amen. How Do I SOAP? Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Look for a verse that spoke to you. Write it down. Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage? Application - Ask yourself how this scripture applies to your life right now. Write down how it can apply to you today. Prayer - This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or even a prayer for a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP M Psalm 34:8 Building Our Faith T 1 Peter 2:1-6 W Isaiah 28:16 TH 1 Peter 2:7-8 F Exodus 19:5-6 S 1 Peter 2:9-10 Main Passage for September 18 1 Peter 2:1-10 HCSB Memory Verse: 1 Peter 2:10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

The Connection of Community Scripture 41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them. 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers. 43 Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved. Acts 2:41 47 HCSB Main Point Life with God and others intersects and connects at the cross of Jesus. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. God s Word - Devoted to Him In the Presence of Christ The upright shall dwell in Your presence. Psalm 140:13 What would you do if you were about to meet the Queen of England? I m sure you would go out of your way to dress correctly and to be properly briefed so you didn t say the wrong thing or act in an improper way. Someday, you and I will meet a far greater Sovereign: the King of the universe. His dazzling glory far exceeds that of any earthly monarch, and in His presence we can only bow in humble worship and praise. Our cry will be that of Revelation: You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power (4: 11). Are you prepared for that day when you will meet the King of kings face-to-face? No one knows the day or the hour when life will end. The time for you to prepare is now, by committing your life to Christ and beginning to live as a child of the King." Prayer is more than the words you say that come sandwiched between Dear God.. and Amen. Prayer is an openness to and awareness of His presence and His power in your life. Kids Ministry Today s Sunday School Lesson Today, the children's lesson was on living a holy life based on the passage 1 Peter 1:13-25. They learned that because we love Jesus, we obey God's commands. Their memory verse this week is 1 Peter 1:22 "By obedience to the truth, having purified yourselves for sincere love of the brothers, love one another earnestly from a pure heart." Practice this verse with your child throughout the week so they may earn a disciple dollar next Sunday for memorizing the verse. Their connection passage was Deuteronomy 4-6. They learned that God gave the law so the people would know how to be holy. Review questions from 1 Peter 1:13-25: Who did obey God's law perfectly and why did he do it? Are we able to obey God's law perfectly? Name a way your family can help you obey this week. Why should we obey God's commands? What does it mean to have to love one another from a pure heart? The Disciple Dollar Store will open again October 2nd. If you missed the Bible study Raising Kingdom Kids you can special order your copy from the Resource Center today! It is not too late to register for AWANA! Join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-8:15 as we have a great time learning scripture and playing games. Register online or in the Resource Center. This Wednesday is Crazy Sock Night!! Let see who can create the craziest socks on their team! This week review with your child what they learned by completing these activities at home. To the left is a fun game called "Don't let God's word fall to the ground." All you need is a paper plate, paper towel roll, tape, balloon, and some markers. Have your child write their memory verse on the paper plate and decorate it as they want and attach the paper towel roll to the back. Next have the children write ways they can obey God as well as the Ten Commandments taught this Sunday on the balloon with a marker. The object of the game is to keep the balloon from dropping using their paper plate. To the right is a worksheet found on Pinterest for free. They can write and draw what obeying all the way looks like and sounds like. Wendi Bean Awana Kids Coordinator wendi@cc.today Teressa Lee Awana Preschool Coordinator teressa@cc.today

Preschool Ministry It s CRAZY SOCK night and all preschoolers are invited to participate! Today s Sunday School Lesson Today, the children learned that Noah built the ark and filled it with animals. (Genesis 5:28-6:22) This week s verse is By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Hebrews 11:7. Please, help your child memorize the verse and review the lesson by asking the following questions. Who were the people who were saved from the flood? Why did God want to save Noah and his family? If your friends make fun of you, will you still obey God? Why is it important to obey God? The children will earn stickers and stamps this week for knowing the verse and the story. Connecting Church and Home You Will Need: Fruit Loops Paper Plate Cotton Balls Glue This week Puggles will discover that God made the flowers. Cubbies will focus on Bear Hug 1 All Have Sinned. (Romans 3:23) Directions Ask your child to glue cotton balls on the paper plate to represent the clouds. Then draw six colored lines on the paper plate tracing them to the glued clouds. Have your preschooler then gather the fruit loops by colors and glue each color to the indicated color line.
